Wow. I love this thing. The sound is clear, warm and sharp. I don't know how Phase Cue II facility, save for it facility.Music mainly can really sound be fond of the speakers are 6-8 feet apart.I put in a Star Wars DVD and asked my friend to find the speakers and he kept looking on either side of my entertainment area, then he'd come in trade to the unit, look around and go in trade to the sides. He looked behind and on top as water supply. It took him at smallest amount 30 seconds to irrevocably top to the unit with a questioning look.I LOVE IT! It's much more than a replacement for TV speakers. It's a great sound logic for a fixed room. The volume, tone and sound feature is amazing taking into account the entire thing is the size of a ordinary DVD player. At nighttime, the Dialog Enhancement feature automatically cuts the secondary-base sounds (which is nice in an apartment) and allows me to curve the volume down lacking bringing up the rear the ability to understand dialog visibly. I was disbelieving about this feature because I've "dialog enhancement" on tv's and uncommon sound systems and have by no means been pleased. I certainly am impressed with ZVOX's translation!I'm on a budget, so the option of the larger systems doesn't really exist right currently. Save for I WILL approve of larger versions as my budget allows it. In detail, I can't pass the time!

For a even as now hubby and I have been discussion in this area being paid a logic for our income room. We by no means feel like we have that splendid of a signal logic to compliment our HDTV, and now and again it seems as even if these new TV's do not have as good speakers as the old box TV's did. In view of the fact that our family tree the the boards a lot of record sports assembly and watches a lot of movies, we are in need of splendid signal equipment to fill our room. The ZVOX 220 is really a fix of just how far equipment has evolved when upgrading you signal logic. Five being ago, it would have cost hundreds more to grasp the rich and satisfying, ambient sounds that this fantastic modest box offers. This also makes it a fix of just how practically priced enhanced signal has be converted into.Seldom have I been this excited to get a wrap in the mail. My hubby was also excited, as he has issues with the low feature of signal that the tiny speakers in our TV puts out. We opened the box and hooked up the logic with a fleeting examination. Yes, this neat DVR-size unit establish its house promptly below our TV.The top of the unit was, as the depiction shows, sized impeccably for our 32" TV. It is calculated so that your TV can sit frankly on top of it. At at the initiation here were concerns that the consequence of the TV may maybe yield destruction to the ZVOX unit. Our instant examination exposed that the unit is bounty levelheaded enough to help the TV. Here was no flaccid from the TV's consequence, and the ZVOX unit has a thick and levelheaded feel to it, much more so than your mean electronic contrivance, no matter what it may be.The lecturer that provides the low-frequency bass is located, practically conveniently, on the underneath of the unit. This allows for a more ergonomic top. Here are three forwards facing, less important speakers in the adjoin of the unit. This is everywhere most of the High frequency treble sounds are emitted. By and large, the top is very well thought out. The treble noises and voices are projected into the room as a consequence of the 3 forwards facing speakers, even as the bass rumbles prominently in the shared class, this is a consequence of the bass lecturer facing the go up on which the contrivance sits. Here is room between the underneath of the ZVOX unit and the go up on which it is positioned and room over again from the underneath of the unit to the lecturer within, this interval allows for the bass signal to mend and mature, you'll hear bark in a show, then look further than to see if a storm is appearance. All of the speakers are confined well by a tough metal cover, this cover also protects the LED sight. The unit comes with a tiny diffident, which is pre-planned to work with it out of the box. Here is also a book and a card that has all directions to curriculum your TV, Satellite, or Cable diffident to work for the ZVOX, if you wish. We just use the diffident that came with the unit. The buttons are easy to be with you, as you push them, the unit sight lights up, displaying your choice. One splendid map that the diffident offers, above and additional than just bass and treble adjustments, is an innovative voice enhancing pin that, when pushed, brings up the number of the voices to contest that of loud and unbalanced signal equipment, this addresses an regularly overlooked annoyance that has plagued box entertainment in view of the fact that its birth. The ports on the back of the ZVOX 220 allocate for Coaxial, digital, and dual analog hook ups. Here is also a well-located 35mm Jack in the adjoin, allowing you to straightforwardly transform the signal of no matter what contrivance comes with a fixed earphone jack. The kicker? It comes with a 35mm adapter chord, really well-located. We use the analog hook ups and love the feature of signal we get as a consequence. Hooking the unit up is a snap, as is turning the main potential on and off, as here is a austere potential batter on the back as well. Now for the signal feature. I have select to assess the signal feature last, in view of the fact that it is really the most important element to take from this assess. With all, no theme how brilliantly calculated, innovative, or multi-functional a signal logic is, it soothe wants to give up in the signal department. Well, I can gladly disorder that the ZVOX not only meets expectations of performance, it exceeds them, by far. The best way I can reflect to give reasons for the signal is like turning your income room into a theater. It sounds like you are surrounded by speakers, and when twisted up, you can feel the bass in your chest. Its actions in signal seem impracticable when looking at its tiny size, or idea in this area the fact that here are no outdoor speakers. This logic facility splendid at low/ moderate levels, but is best when twisted up, it is then that you can actually grasp how much the logic is competent of dependability. This is an exceptional manufactured goods for any signal enhancing wits. Exceptional for movies, sports assembly, sports, composition, the list goes on and on. I may maybe say so much more, but by now, if you are looking for an practically priced and wide-ranging upgrade to a basic home entertainment signal logic, you must by now be on your way to alternative up the ZVOX 220. It is what you have been coming up for to bring your entertainment to life.

I had in cooperation the ZVOX 220 and the Yamaha YAS 101 Sound Bars in my home at the constant time and compared the two of them. I be inflicted with a large income room (unevenly 22' X 18') and used a newer Samsung 60 creep LED HDTV and compared its sound also.In cooperation Sound Bars sounded skilled. I rank the Yamaha YAS 101 as having excellent sound and the ZVOX 220 as go above average sound wise pro their size.In cooperation be inflicted with skilled diffident controls. The ZVOX has the advantage of an optical and a coaxial partaking as well as separate bass and teble controls and a square unit that you can fit a TV on and the Yamaha has a bass control (no treble) and two optical inputs and is relatively lingering (35") pro slightly better stereo separation (a drawback with a smaller TV stand). In cooperation are striking with the Yamaha a modest nicer with a black piano gloss close. In cooperation sounded very skilled. The Yamaha YAS 101 however offered significantly better volume over the ZVOX 220 and a slightly extra relaxed, extra untreated, fuller sounding mid-range to me, yet also offered nice clear sound. The bass starting the Yamaha was slightly extra present than the ZVOX, yet was not at all overpowering. I think the ZVOX would be plenty commanding pro a medium or small listening space save pro I cannot recommend it pro a large income room if you be fond of to turn the sound up pro movies. The Yamaha was extra than up to the challenge in that regard in my large income room. The ZVOX to me was clear and had a skilled presence. However, it seemed slightly prickly in the mid range to me, importance it had a modest too much treble pro my liking pro lingering term relaxed listening. Granted, some people may very this as the sound seemed slightly clearer than the Yamaha (which also sounds clear save pro as mentioned, has the advantage of extra full, slightly extra relaxed and untreated mid-range over the ZVOX in my attitude)I refined up maintenance the Yamaha YAS 101 , which by the way, at the time of this review, is pro deal pro $180 at Costco where it is called a Yamaha ATS 1010. I liked and can recommend in cooperation units though, except not the ZVOX 220 pro large income place to stay.Pro what it is worth, I establish that the sound out of my newer Samsung 60" LED TV adequate (not skilled) pro listening to day after day TV. The TV lacked the ability to turn it up to sound full in my large income room and possessed an unnatural weak tin be fond of sound to it - even pro day to day TV viewing. My TV was not near as skilled as any the ZVOX or Yamaha sound bars, not even accurate. The sound out of these two sound bars sounded very skilled and is heads above anything I be inflicted with heard starting currently produced LED TVs.In my attitude, if you are going to use an LED TV with typically weak speakers, you should seriously thought-out a feature sound bar be fond of the Yamaha YAS 101 and ZVOX 220. I pro lone, very the Yamaha YAS 101 overall in the $250 or a reduced amount of category.

I purchased the Zvox to replace the Bose Solo lecturer logic which I had only returned. I never heard of this company before to - keep for, including my disappointment including a legendary name strain I unbendable to yield Zvox a shot. unattractively never preview in trade. The Bose Solo is 2x extra pricey, has a release green LED to top headed for potential, and has a number up and not effective even as the green LED blinks. Some of the top flaws of the Bose are: no adjustments whatsoever, no spectacle, and the bass ports are keen frankly in trade at the roadblock. This had the preview of making my parapet beat including low frequency tremors and my windows rattle. If you're looking for head-banging, teeth chattering, mentality-blowing, thrashing loud bass - then, the Bose Solo force be for you.For the rest us who rather a extra natural sound including a skilled bass response, the Zvox is the most excellent. I googled them and visited the Zvox website - not a be fond of website and they release look to focus on TV sound slab systems. Early what I look into on the website, they take great pride in their systems. It's a frequently analog amplifier, incorporating digital dispensation release where de rigueur. This produces a lukewarm, natural sound. Even as the analog amplifier sounds far superior to Bose, it does be deficient in the skill to flush made known the number between different sources which is where Bose excelled. The result is I still call for to nip the number a piece on this logic as switching sources.Thankfully the Zvox has a digital spectacle surrounded by the inquiry to trade show me my number level, something which was completely left bitter the Bose Solo. It has bass and treble tweaks to tailor the sound to your space. If you look into the directions, you are competent to absolutely disable the stand-by conspire to be inflicted including the speakers remain on. It has several selectable sources for in cooperation digital and analog inputs. And, they aid a check subwoofer keen not effective at the cabinet which fills the opportunity, rather than the bass ports keen made known the rear which bent uncomfortable low frequency atmosphere.According to Zvox's website, they were the first and others be fond of Bose worn-made known their top. I can reconcile it. Here other modest commerce facial appearance which are impressive, be fond of the spectacle will extinguish including a hardly any seconds so it's not distracting. Disparate some systems which grant a universal culture diffident, they grant a universal culture receiver. I've never seen this before to. You can program this logic to accept the pin presses of your void diffident control rather than instruction your diffident to gather its instructions. Extremely cool.Flush the toslink optical cable provided was of skilled feature, disparate Bose who provided the cheapest cables doable for a logic costing double as much i.e. a thin fake cable which was stamped "Through in Plates."If you aspire bass, well - I've got my logic cranked all the road DOWN on the subwoofer and it sounds extremely natural. Including my Bluray collectively via hdmi through a Monoprice 4-road switch into the TV I can mess about digital audio lacking come forth, keep for looked-for to bump not effective my DVD player early 1080p to 1080i for some mind - could maybe be noise or a bad cable and the 4-road switch doesn't help.If you aspire head-banging loud bass, preview at Bose for 2x the cash. If you aspire a great practically priced logic for apartment dwellers who be inflicted including no space for a 5.1 lecturer logic, yea - this is it.Check over 1/6/2013 - Including all the bonus unused analog inputs, I ran long cable to the satellite telephone logic in the other opportunity including a balanced/unbalanced transformer. Previously this was collectively to a low-expense stereo am/fm amplifier. Switching early the low-expense stereo to this sound logic - wow. What a profound, rich sound on the analog inputs. Most excellent purchase always.

Well, many others have gone into splendid top here so I will concentrate on my difficult consequences when compared to a Yamaha YAS-101.By and large I reflect the signal feature was positively akin to each additional. Both straightforwardly to the top my modest size income room with bounty of signal. I reflect the bass was a modest more commanding, and true, on the Yamaha but I reflect the by and large tone feature was doubtless best on the ZVOX. I wouldn't say I heard any fantastic surround signal equipment from any unit. Here is some reproduction spatialization that occurs on both and it regularly era make a nice variation depending on the fund. Neither signal like "surround signal" to me but that isn't why I bought them.I wanted a unit like this for two reasons: 1) bring more number and clarity to my box viewing encounter 2) act as a amplified lecturer for my iPhone and/or Apple TV box.Over again, both the ZVOX and Yamaha to the top the purpose of digit 1. For digit 2: The Yamaha has only two optical (digital) inputs, no coaxial or analog. So, even as the Yamaha may maybe soubriquet the optical productivity of my Apple TV and box, here is no way to frankly hook up the iPhone or any additional analog fund that a name force bring by my household. ZVOX wins here with its partaking flexibility; an optical (digital) partaking, coaxial (digital) partaking, and three analog inputs (2 x RCA pairs and 1 x 1/8 inch stereo).Next, it came down to how it looked. My TV complex now consists of a 37 inch flat panel surrounded by an armoire. The only house I may maybe put the Yamaha was frankly in adjoin of the TV. This fated I had to push the TV back additional, which obstructed viewing. I had an come forth with the Yamaha's ability to pass IR to the TV. Even as their IR repeater functionality is a very arresting choice, it just didn't work with my corporal complex. The Yamaha lecturer bar just looked foolish meeting in adjoin of my TV. The ZVOX sits nicely on the ridge not more than, just like the DVD player and cable box that is next to it. ZVOX top wins hands down for my rigorous corporal complex. Now, if my TV were mounted on a wall, the Yamaha force have been a best corporal fit.Everlastingly, I actually like the diffident culture abilities of the ZVOX. I know that the Yamaha can do it too but it just seems easier and more dependable on the ZVOX. I was able to configure my Comcast diffident hegemony to turn on the ZVOX with the TV potential on pin and was able to configure the diffident's AUX gathering to hegemony the number up/down of ZVOX. I did this by configuring the AUX as some bogus Sony receiver (that I don't even own). I educated ZVOX to reply to the up/down number of the Sony receiver instructions and then configured the Comcast diffident to send number key instructions everlastingly to AUX. I did this in view of the fact that my TV doesn't have the ability to shut off the domestic speakers and didn't want to turn up/down the TV speakers itself.Anyhow, all seems to be effective nicely collectively and in view of the fact that of the flexibility of the Comcast diffident, and the culture abilities of the ZVOX, I didn't have to lecture anyone to do no matter what business uncommon and did not have to initiate an bonus diffident.Neither the Yamaha or ZVOX are going to blow you away with the QUALITY of audio (primarily on composition) but the ZVOX performs its intended job (for me) practically nicely and at a reasonable fee.**** Bring up to date 1/13/2013 ****This business keeps on ticking! I actually like the superfluous thought they put into the top. For develop, if it is shut off, it turns itself back on when it receives a number up/down mandate. In view of the fact that I planned it to reply to the TV's potential mandate; this map eliminates the potential that you get into a circumstances everywhere the TV is on and the ZVOX is off and vice versa. This has been one of very few electronics that I've been able to bed in in my household everywhere it hasn't frustrated my wife and kids to use it. They have no idea it's even here, it just facility all the time and responds to the TV diffident. I'm sure that some of the $1000+ signal bars, even as doubtless sounding best, doubtless don't work in some of the superfluous facial appearance which just make this business transparent and easy to use. Good job ZVOX!

The only wits I didn't give this 5 stars is that I'm still figuring out how to lower the digit of remotes needed. The TV sound is terrific - no surprise there if you've read the other reviews. In addition to in succession the TV sound owing to the ZVOX (using the optical connector), I plugged in a Denon Receiver/CD player using analog jacks. You can thrash between inputs using the ZVOX remote. Music sounds terrific owing to the ZVOX - thundering bass and crystal clear trebles. I played some vocal stuff and could be with you all of the words. Then I played Beethoven's 9th Symphony and blew the doors off.If you have an entertainment focal point and don't want to deal with lecturer wire, etc. ZVOX can do it all.

I upgraded starting a Zvox 325 which is the same as the 220 but older develop.Pro's,The sound is much clearer and the surround sound seems to be better than the 325, It currently has optical and coaxial digital input and a nice lighted display. The extra remote control has all the option on it and I love the Output Leveling feature for loud commercials. Has great volume if you like it loud. I am happy I upgraded to the 220 so I could use the optical input and all the extra features, they through good improvements and would recommend this element it sounds great.Con'sThey moved the base lecturer or subwoofer starting inside the cabinet to the bottom of the element and it is a smaller cabinet so the base is not extremely deep or loud on the 220, I have the base turned as high as it goes and treble setting on 0 the base is OK for me. The subwoofer on my 325 was extremely deep and loud it would vibrate the TV cabinet and floor if you turned the base up, so if you like a deep, floor vibrating loud subwoofer this is not the element for you. My dish arrangement, LG TV and Toshiba blue-ray remotes are not compatible with the 220, I called Zvox tech support and was told single simple remotes will work with the 220, that all of my remotes are not compatible so I use the sound volume and mute on the Zvox remote. I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the remote compatibility problems.

I had been wanting to get rid of the clutter of superfluous speakers and wires from the living room for a long calculate. I be in this planet in an average sized apartment in the NYC area and like a clean minimal space. I also like good sound but not overwhelming bass gray room rattling sound. The ZVOX 220 perfectly fit my needs. It is good looking and modest on the ridge bottom the flat tire screen box. It has a nice full sound with either video or music and is plug and mess about easy to set up. The diffident is simple and functional in a good way. The dialog enhance feature is great. At initially it sounded barely audible but realized I looked-for to change a couple of things which might help others:1) The sound on my TV and cable box were set to a "narrow" array which accounted for the barely audible sound. Make sure to set the array to "Normal" or "Wide". I also set it to Dolby. The sound was perfect afterwards2) There were insignificant ground loop problems with the cable box, but it was flat tire using either the digital or coaxial digital productivity. The RCA outputs bring about fine, but to my ears, the digital outputs sound better3) Make sure to be inflicted with your TV or Cable box number set to "flat tire" or if you be inflicted with it as "wavering" set the number to roughly 90 percent for the best sound.4) Get clad cables for your logic. Opportunely, ZVOX provides an optical digital cord and a cord for an iPod/iPhone.5) It has a convenient input for an iPod/iPhone, ect. Buy the iPod complete dock to plug into the logic. The sound was fuller than using the headphone jack from the iPod or iPhone.I would definitely urge ZVOX to anyone who doesn't want or need the 5 speaker surround sound logic. They look like audio bore components lacking the gray fee.EDIT: I meant Apple Complete dock, not iPod Complete dock. Also since these are nice components, the speakers need a modest calculate to fracture in.

This unit does boost sound feature, but has a major flaw. It cannot decode any Dolby Digital encoded inputs. So, if your blu-ray player or HDTV does not have an choice to productivity "PCM only" the 220 will be silent when using any digital inputs. In those cases, the only way this thing will work is via the analog input. High and mighty you're using your HDTV as the audio fund if you don't have RCA jacks or a earphone out jack (mine don't and ZVOX doesn't contain these cables) to input to the 220, all you will hear is the sound of silence. Poor commerce compelling into account LG and Samsung both make soundbars with wireless subs that help Dolby and only cost a few dollars more than the ZVOX base model. If you need a key that appears to go like the ZVOX but can decode Dolby the BOSE Solo may be an choice.

I bought a Toshiba 42" LED TV about a year ago. I was warned by all the reviews and the sales person I bought it from about the poor sound quality from the rear/down facing speakers. The sound was barely travelable and for some reason the sound on Channel 7 (my community ABC affiliate) was lower than every other station and flush at max volume it was not loud enough.Didn't want a fancy 5.1 or 7.1 system. So I've been watching for the least expensive quality key ever in view of the fact that. Bought and returned an Insignia box and didn't flush try a few others because the reviews were pretty apparent. While checking out the new Bose Solo I came across a reference to this box and decided to try it. It installed just so as straightforwardly as it says (TOSlink optical). I did not try to set it up to respond to the cable remote. We in fact be fond of the little remote just for audio. We be inflicted including an "open" floorplan set-up so we can wander between kitchen and family opportunity watching a curriculum and just carry the audio remote and not worry about pushing the ill-treat button on the complicated cable remote. The channel 7 problem is dead now. The surround sound is decent. I wish I could get a little more treble and I wish it had a sub-woofer output but I knew these things before I bought it (from other reviews). You'll get more from more expensive boxes and a lot a reduced amount of from other boxes that cost the same.Bottom line... Skilled value. Does just so what I bought it for and does it water supply.

ZVOX 4002201 Audio Z-Base 220 Low-Profile Single Cabinet Sound System
Only about the size of a DVD player, the Z-Base 220 logic can fill your room with rich, nourishing 3D sound - counting thrashing bass rejoinder - with no open-air speakers, subwoofers or lecturer wires! The 220's sound feature is exceptional since we use high normal speakers and amplifiers. And disparate any other sound bar in its price category, the Z-Base 220 uses a wood (MDF) cabinet - not fake. Our only one of its kind Phase Cue II equipment creates three-dimensional surround sound lacking open-air speakers and wires. You can fit the 220 on a shelf below the TV or, depending on the size of your TV, you can put it under your TV set. Hookup is super-austere - just one concerning wire and a one-page owner's blue-collar. You can even teach the ZVOX 220 to reply to your TV or cable box diffident power! If you want great TV sound lacking the conundrum...lacking the mess....and lacking the high price, the Z-Base 220 is the right choice for you.
