The president spoke about the "very fluid" situation in Ukraine.

WASHINGTON As Ukrainian leaders accused Russia of carrying out an armed invasion in the Crimea region, President Obama on Friday warned Russia not to intervene militarily, saying the United States would stand with the world to condemn a violation of Ukraines sovereignty.

There will be costs, Mr. Obama declared in a brief statement from the White House. He said the United States government was deeply concerned by reports of military movements taken by the Russian Federation inside Ukraine.

He said any intervention militarily in Ukraine would be deeply destabilizing and would represent a profound interference in the Ukrainian peoples right to determine their own future.

Earlier, at the United Nations, the Ukrainian ambassador, Yuriy A. Sergeyev, said that Russian troops had taken control of two airports in Crimea and that the Russian Navy was blocking the Ukrainian Coast Guard.

Armed men of uncertain allegiance took up positions at two airports in Simferopol, the regional capital of Crimea, an area with stronger historical ties to Russia than to Ukraines central government in Kiev.

Although there were no confrontations or bloodshed by evening, the appearance of a large number of masked men with assault rifles unnerved residents and travelers, who were buffeted by warnings from Kiev of military meddling by Moscow and statements from the deposed Ukrainian president, Viktor F. Yanukovych, that the country had been taken over by fascists and bandits.

In Simferopol, men dressed in camouflage and carrying assault rifles moved into position at the international airport and a second airfield nearby. Their military uniforms bore no insignia, and it was not clear who they were or who was commanding them. They declined to answer questions.

Ukrainian International, Ukraines biggest airline, said on Friday that it had canceled flights into and out of the Crimea region because the airspace had been closed.

Moscow denied that its forces had moved into Crimea and attributed the presence of troops there to internal political processes in Ukraine, according to a statement from the Foreign Ministry. It said it had not violated agreements not to intervene in Ukrainian affairs.

Armored personnel carriers with Russian markings appeared on roads Friday outside Simferopol, sometimes alone but at other times in long columns of military vehicles. It was unclear whether the movements signaled a Russian push to occupy the city, a show of strength aimed at cowing far less numerous Ukrainian forces in the region, or simply a routine rotation of Russian hardware.

Russia has many military facilities in Crimea, the most important of which is the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet, in Sevastopol. Its military vehicles regularly move around the peninsula, but Fridays activity was more intense than usual, according to local residents.

There were no immediate signs of panic in Simferopol, which has a large ethnic Russian population and has generally supported Moscows line that Kiev, 400 miles to the north, has been overrun by fascists who pose a grave threat to the interests of Ukraines Russian speakers.

The only visible military presence in the center of the city consisted of unidentified gunmen who seized the regional Parliament building and a government office complex this week. But Simferopol swirled with rumors, all unconfirmed, that Russian troops had seized Crimeas main television station, the central post office and other strategic locations. Residents also exchanged information, apparently more grounded in reality, about sightings of Russian military transport planes landing at airports.

This is an open but unannounced aggression by the Russian Federation against the territory of Ukraine, said Refat Chubarov, the leader of Crimeas indigenous population of Tatars, a Muslim Turkic people, and a strong advocate of the regions remaining part of Ukrainian territory. He said Russian military helicopters had flouted Ukrainian sovereignty by flying into Crimea without permission.

In Kiev, the speaker of Parliament, Oleksandr V. Turchynov, who is now the acting president of Ukraine, convened a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council to discuss the situation in Crimea.

Announcing the meeting in Parliament, Mr. Turchynov said, Terrorists with automatic weapons, judged by our special services to be professional soldiers, tried to take control of the airport in Crimea.

Mr. Yanukovych, in a news conference on Friday in Rostov-on-Don, in southern Russia not far from Crimea, said the region should remain part of Ukraine, despite its historic, linguistic and cultural ties to Russia. I think that everything that has happened in Crimea is a natural reaction to the gangster coup that happened in Kiev, he said.

CCTV Shows Crimean Parliament Takeover

Footage from security cameras showed the moment armed men seized Simferopols Parliament building in Ukraines Crimea region.

He added, People of Crimea dont want to submit and they will not submit to Bandera thugs, referring to a World War II-era nationalist leader, Stepan Bandera, who was vilified by the Soviet Union.

Secretary of State John Kerry spoke on Friday with the Russian foreign minister, Sergey V. Lavrov, about the appearance of the armed men at the airports. We raised the issue of the airports, raised the issue of armored vehicles, raised the issue of personnel in various places, Mr. Kerry told reporters in Washington.

Mr. Lavrov asserted that Russia would respect the sovereignty of Ukraine, Mr. Kerry said. But Mr. Kerry said that he had told his Russia counterpart that it is important for everybody to be extremely careful not to inflame the situation.

At the Simferopol airport, the armed men set up positions around a central administrative building, but they did not appear to enter the terminals. There were no roadblocks or checkpoints on the roads leading to the airport or on the grounds of the airport.

After nightfall, Petro Poroshenko, a billionaire member of Parliament, said outside the airport building that he had come to Crimea to negotiate with the regional Parliament on behalf of the national government in Kiev. He said his mission was to do everything not to allow an escalation of violence and to stress to the Crimeans that they were fellow Ukrainians and that Ukraine must not be divided.

He referred to the soldiers standing behind him as foreign and more than once gestured toward them with distaste. What I cannot accept is the presence here of foreign troops, he said. We cannot accept the danger for Ukraines sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Striped areas indicate

provinces with significant

Russian-speaking populations.

Meanwhile, another confrontation was underway at a second airport, called Belbek, that is used for military and some civilian flights.

In a post on his Facebook page, the interior minister, Arsen Avakov, said units believed to be affiliated with the Russian military had blocked access to the airport overnight, with some Ukrainian military personnel and border guards inside. Mr. Avakov wrote that the men blocking the airport were also wearing camouflage uniforms with no identifying insignia, but he added, They do not hide their affiliation.

Mr. Avakov said that the airport was not functioning and that there is no armed conflict yet.

At the international airport, Mr. Avakov said, the Ukrainian authorities confronted the armed men and told them, You soldiers have no right to be located here. The uniformed men responded curtly, We do not have instructions to negotiate with you, he said.

Tension is building, Mr. Avakov wrote, adding: I regard what is happening as an armed invasion and occupation in violation of all international treaties and norms. This is a direct provoking of armed bloodshed on the territory of a sovereign state.

Igor K. Tresilaty, who identified himself as assistant to the general director at the international airport, said Friday that the soldiers were remaining in common areas outside the airport, in the restaurant and in parking lots. He said he did not know who they were and expressed no curiosity about them, saying only that they looked professional.

Theyre walking around, but we, nor the police, cant have any complaint against them because theyre not violating anything, theyre not touching anyone, Mr. Tresilaty said.

Russias Black Sea Fleet denied that its forces were involved in the deployment at one of the airports. But the national Parliament in Kiev appealed to Russia to stop moves that show signs of undermining national sovereignty in Ukraine, Reuters reported, and it urged the United States and Britain to honor commitments made in the early 1990s to protect the countrys territorial integrity.

Parliament also called on the United Nations Security Council to debate the issue, apparently seeking to broaden the dispute.

The rapid-fire developments came a day after a well-orchestrated power grab by pro-Russian forces played out across Simferopol: Armed militants took control of government buildings; crowds filled the streets, chanting Russia, Russia; and legislators called for a vote to redefine relations with Ukraine. The region is currently autonomous, meaning it has greater local control over its affairs.

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, Crimea, a tinderbox of ethnic, political and religious divisions, has had repeated outbursts of pro-Russia fervor that all ultimately fizzled. But the events Thursday and Friday, coupled with the fragile state of Ukraines new and barely functioning central government, represented a much more serious challenge to the territorial integrity of the country and an already unsettled geopolitical balance between Russia and the West.

The situation here matches in some ways ones that previously played out in areas like Abkhazia and South Ossetia, where largely pro-Russia populations broke away from Georgia, a former Soviet republic like Ukraine, to effectively become Russian protectorates.

The pace of developments, set largely by well-organized pro-Russia groups that marched through Simferopol in military-style formations, has perhaps outrun even Moscows capacity for geopolitical machinations. Having mobilized its air and ground forces around Ukraine on Wednesday for previously unannounced military exercises in western Russia, Moscow has raised expectations among its most zealous supporters that it will intervene to support their cause.

But any open military intervention would risk plunging Crimea, a vital outpost for the Russian Navy, into bloody chaos and also undermine security inside Russia, particularly in heavily Muslim areas.

Michael D. Shear reported from Washington, and Andrew Higgins from Simferopol, Ukraine. Reporting was contributed by Patrick Reevell from Simferopol; David M. Herszenhorn and Andrew E. Kramer from Kiev, Ukraine; Steven Lee Myers from Rostov-on-Don, Russia; Andrew Roth from Moscow; Alan Cowell from London; Somini Sengupta from the United Nations; and Michael R. Gordon from Washington.

NAXA Electronics ND-855 5.1 Channel DVD Home Theater System with Progressive Scan DVD Player, Karaoke Function and USB/SD/MMC Inputs - Black User Reviews

I purchased this Item early Adorama on Amazon.com. My expense was $74.99 including shipping of $20.89,which brings the systems expense up to $95.88. The Item arrived including extremely little directions save pro the speakers are austere promote and mess about. The sound was dreadful! I went to to the menu ranking and went to speaker settings. the crucial point speaker(extremely tiny tweeter type speaker) was playing owing to the subwoofer unit and the subwoofer was playing owing to the (tweeter type)crucial point speaker unit. There is no possible way pro plugging the crucial point speaker into the subwoofer haven, the subwoofer is internally wired to the amp and the crucial point speaker haven is labled on a haven on the back of the subwoofer/amp unit. I reboxed the logic and went owing to the restore administer. Ended a week later I recieved $74.99 refund early Adorama. I fancy I could possibly leave a cut-rate amount of than 1 star.UPDATE!!!! Adorama just sent me an email admitting to an oversite on the additional shipping payment and Adorama IS GOING TO REFUND THE SHIPPING CHARGE.THANK YOU ADORAMA! I would currently urge dependability business including Adorama save pro I do Not urge this NAXA ND-855.
- D. J. WOOD

The signal is practically skilled for a tiny interval. The DVD seems fragile, but it hasnt agreed any harms, Installation is straightforward.
- Ana Saloma

You get what you pay for.I paid less then $100 for this logic only since I read the other reviews. What were they reviewing.
- CJ

The logic is nice but it is low-cost built. For the price it was just what I sought after. If I sought after a logic that blew me away, I would have gone with a more pricey set even if, this facility splendid for me.
- fq4u

Facility splendid and very skilled sound, not too heavy corrupt but skilled for movies and music. DVD tray seems very flimsy but by and large manufactured goods facility very well. Figuring karaoke mess about figure seems a little technological, tenderness the choice for usb brushwood and enthusiasm cards. Kind surround sound for entertainment opportunity.
- David Jocelyn

Sounds good for a smaller, low end kit. Worth the price. Really good for a small room. Subwoofer lacks punch, but that's to be expected.

Yamaha YHT-897 5.1-Channel Network Home Theater System Purchaser Reviews

We have this hooked up to an xbox system and a Blu-ray player. In cooperation work through it nicely, and the sound output is good. And we like the options that aid us to get on to voices louder, so we don't disturb our neighbors too much.
- Amanda Truck

Great, great, manufactured goods. We purchased this item both for a qualitatively good sound logic and at the constant calculate get your hands on a good valuable logic with the intention of could be expanded to a home theater logic. The hold lived up to all our expectations, a good sound logic which can easily be adjusted, especially using a app with the intention of is readily available both for apple and android phones and drug. Individual speakers properties can be adjusted counting the woofer which for many systems can be a extra than a hinder than a delight. The internet tie opens many possibilities like diffident control via your wifi logic or like fast HD quality sound from internet telephone logic or before a live audience your playlist from you apple iPhone or iPad. To communication with other diplomacy such as my Yamaha Blu-ray DVD player and samsung Smart TV are sound. Even my member of the clergy who is a extremely vital as it comes to the sound of classical music, was extremely impressed as demonstrating the logic. Downsides....be inflicted with not come across persons yet. A great investment which We hope to take pleasure in for many being.
- Patrick Brunings

I considered this hold at stores and online, and settled on this as it was a skilled regard. The quantity was near 100 pounds, which was tricky to handle, save pro the alternative was to craft in two boxes and expose separating them. The manufactured goods facility great, all including the intention of was specified, and sounds wonderful. Thank you.
- Jeffrey G Allman

Surround sound sounds so good! Background it up was austere, the in rank were easy to read online lacking any conundrum.
- Logan

yes, i am very pleased with the sound, if u use it only for your tv u gonna be very pleased...keep for with a only just any weeks with the hold i started to have problems with the usb to conect to my ipod so with a willei just not use any longer for with the intention of... i cant conect yet to the internet, i watch so many videos on youtube keep for not any of them was caring...i reflect u can make a surpass sound sistem for this money
- Vitalie Gratii

I by no means thought Yamaha to be much of a top contender in home audio compared to brands like Bose, Klipsch, or Polk in anticipation of a supporter of mine from work, who is a real audiophile, was selection me in consequence a home acting logic to hold. He not compulsory this one given the size of my apartment and it's simplicity and I am glad I went by his proposition. The signal quality is amazing even with the subwoofer set at just not more than half. Another splendid map is the YPAO microphone which is used to adjust the speakers based on your rigorous position in relation to the tv and speakers, to provide you with the best possible signal arc.For the price I paid, I got a quality home acting logic that I doubt I will be replacing for some time.
- blaue_augen18

I've had the Yamaha YHT-897 5.1 for about 6 months. I wanted to pass the time for a while to see how the logic facility before I wrote anything about it. So far the logic has been everything it said. As I bought the logic I placed an order to upgrade the speaker wire to RCA 14-gauge, after reading other reviews stating that this step is a should, I didn't want to pass the time in anticipation of after I opened the amount to order. The difference between the Yamaha stock wire and the 14-gauge is crazy. No comparison, Yamaha looks be fond of you could possibly rip it apart with ease and the 14-guage is super strong and thick. So if anyone was complaining about the sound, it force be that because the sound that comes out of this logic is very good. I didn't do a ordeal comparison of the two, save for with the 14-gauge, it sounds amazing.Pros:Amazing soundThe HDMI CEC is great! Switching in trade and forth starting DVD to T.V. is 1 following transition. So fast. It's nice to press one button on one remote for this. No flipping in trade and forth. The 5-channel is great - you can have tons of specific options for sound save for the supervise over sound and ordinary options are great. I don't be fond of the gimmicks of other settings, I be fond of true sound coming starting the source of the blueray and this facility great.Late nighttime watching is also great with DRC. Watching a trade show with the wife next to you sleeping and a car crashes which is not as big as it should facility as you don't want to wake the wife!YPAO worked prefect. I leisurely every speaker and YPAO was 100% spot on. (Make guaranteed all windows are push to, no sounds what so always besides what's coming out of the speakers. I had a badger running around the initially time and it messed up the settings)Arrangement is great - people complain about no WiFi save for I hate WiFi, it always craps out on me where I be in this planet, so I love that I can hook it up frankly to my router via cable. Super fast connection with no problems save for possibly it would be good to have both options.Cons:AirPlay sucks. I have a 2012 Panasonic and the menu by no means turns off, there is no cover saver function, so after 1 hour of playing AirPlay on my T.V. I would have AirPlay on my cover for a day or two if I forgot to curve it off! Not good. If you have a non-plasma T.V. then this is not a big deal for you. For me I will by no means us AirPlay and it was one of their enormous promotion points. Now and again if I curve on the Receiver initially, then the T.V. I don't get sound. The Motherboard flips/switches in trade and forth save for then sets with no sound. So I have to curve on the T.V. initially then the Receiver and I don't have any problems... possibly a possibility update will manipulate this.Overall this logic is everything I wanted in a mid-range sound logic. It delivers a big punch to blue-ray movies and CD's are very good. I have to be careful currently not to get my neighbors mad at me!I have not used the Eco Settings.I recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to fork over 1k for a logic!
- Mochi

The major feature I wanted was a receiver with AirPlay and, boy, this thing delivers great AirPlay sound! The iPad AV power was sweet good too but it didn't power all. For example, I couldn't set up MAC filtering, you have to do that owing to a video watch and remote power. ( note: I called up yahmaha and learned that it wasn't doable for my neighbors to use the receiver's AirPlay feature unless they were on my wireless network; so MAC filtering was excessive! )Overall, the music I heard sounded great; I was detective novel to be able to power the radio ( tuner ) from my bed this daylight via my iPad!I decided to wire my musical keyboard to the receiver as well and it sounded terrific; the "set up" couldn't have been any easier: all I had to do was plug my keyboard into the "aux audio" and then tap the "aux audio" pin on my iPad to route the audio by the book.Besides that, I was amazed to see how eagerly Amazon exchanged my "Yamaha YHT-595BL" for the "Yamaha YHT-897."I couldn't be happier! ;-)
- Deep Roy

After strict consideration, I chose to hold this 897 logic for my home. I primarily purchased the logic to listen to music with, but it makes movies sound great! I decided to hold Yamaha after listening to my acquaintances Yamaha receiver and I was blown away. His has been running 5 years passionate and has no sign of slowing down. I above all like to options which come pre-biased into the receiver for surveillance sports, sci-fi, spectacular, adventure, gaming selections, pro logic, and the NEO option is awe-inspiring too. The only downside is the sub woofer, which technically is not a downside but a preference. I purchased this logic bundle since of the air-play capabilities and the 10" sub which comes with the logic. Now the sub is not bad, but after listening to my acquaintances sub which he got on only one of its kind, you will find that you need at least 200+watt sub for music enjoyment to be fully pleased. The sub handles all rock music and movies just fine, there's no problem there. But if you be going to to listen to music which is very bassy, then I suggest you up grade. I will upgrade to the YST-SW315 at a later point. Don't let this deject you, the speakers kick ass and sound very clean. After all, Yamaha is a premium fund for sound enjoyment.Yamaha YST-SW315 10-Inch Digital Pro Series Subwoofer (Black)
- Michael_e00

I purchase this receiver after doing investigate and comparing uncommon brands. The Yamaha YHT-897 has splendid signal fantastic bass and is exact for the tiny to ordinary mass place to pause. Also the connectivity to your family IP arrangement is a snap and you can stream Podcast and music. I kindness it.
- D. Moore "Osiris God of Death"

Yamaha YHT-897 5.1-Channel Network Home Theater System

Get all out want and more out of your home acting logic with the YHT-897 from Yamaha. this is an exciting new HTIB that provides austere surgical course of action via free Yamaha AV Controller App, plus enhanced audio capabilities with CINEMA DSP 3D for an all-encompassing home acting encounter from a high normal 5-preside over lecturer logic wrap and a commanding 10" 100W Subwoofer. Onkyo HT-S3500 5.1-Channel Home Theater Speaker/Receiver Package User Reviews

Onkyo HT-S3500 5.1-Channel Home Theater Speaker/Receiver Package User ReviewsI once sold Onkyo tape decks and receivers in trade in the 80's at Sounds Great Inc in Amherst NY. They were the best made electronic components far surpassing Yamaha and Sony in trade in the day. However I was leary after reading all the complaints about the HTS 3400. However I took a gamble on the HTS 3500 after reading all positive reviews. I am now adding to that list of reviews. This receiver absolutely rocks my stump. It was easy to set up - easy to understand (however some functions I had to look up on the web as my tech talk has fallen behind a bit). Overall - it is a great receiver and I couldn't be happier including the sound. I would recommend it over the BOSE system using the same receiver - (BJ's and Costco sell that system). Speakers are slightly larger in size (and sound) than the BOSE system - but I'll deal including the extra 4 inches of cabinet and pocket the extra $500. Thankfulness Onkyo - you truly rock my planet!
- Johnny O

I bought the HT-3400 last year and it is effectively like peas in a pod to this one. I had an early obstruction surrounded by 3 days and had to get it replaced and so far this one is effective, even if Onkyo's feature is nowhere what it used to be. I liked the set up in the admittance in view of the fact that it was such an enhancement over the tiny speakers that came with my TV, even if over time I came to grasp that much was gone. What was gone was a supervise over consequence of the low-end speakers that came with the logic. It is tiresome to estimate 3 1/4 inch speakers to breed a lot of high feature signal. Even even if they're planned as having a frequency rejoinder of 80 - 20 KHz they don't bring up life leisurely at + or - 3 Db, which is the evenly typical ordinary.I refined up replacing all apart from the receiver and sub woofer. Observably cash was a appeal or I wouldn't have bought a HTIB in the at the initiation house, but now that I have Sony SS-F6000 towers in the adjoin, and BIC DV62Si's for surrounds (splendid sounding speakers for modest more than $100/pair) and a BIC DV52 crucial top supervise over. The incidence, descriptions, and clarity are so dramatically stuck-up that it is like inane from mono to stereo. The sky is the homogenize when it comes to export stereo gear but good signal can be achieved lacking costs thousands. I wish that I had planning it all out before to I bought the HTIB. I paid less than $300 for the HT-3400 and it wasn't bad for the cash, but grasp now that it may maybe be a lot best. One business to planning-out is that if you come to ask best signal, then don't do what I did in view of the fact that your upgrade path is top bolt from the blue. Sure you can exchange the speakers and get a much best sounding logic, but the receiver and sub woofer are the sticking top. The receiver is fine as far as potential and important facial appearance, but I was powerless to get it to get the HDMI to by the book pass-thru both record and signal when the receiver was in defend mode even with that Onkyo said that it may maybe. I had to add an committed matrix 4 x 2 batter to be able to have all work like it must have lacking the batter. Even if it all facility well now in view of the fact that mind the batter. The business that I didn't planning-out when export this HTIB was that the sub woofer is unpowered which earnings that you actually don't have the cleverness to upgrade it to a upset best in view of the fact that effectively all sub woofers of note are powered. So this creates an deadlock everywhere I can't get a best sub woofer lacking also replacing the receiver and that's more cash than I want to dissipate at this top. Just maintenance my fingers crossed that the receiver and sub woofer keep effective so I don't have to exchange both, at nominal amount for now.The HT-3500 at below $300 delivered isn't a bad logic, but it has its limitations and anyone compelling into account this must weigh that hostile to maybe costs more up adjoin but life happier with what you end up with down the road. If you are compelling into account construction a monetary proclamation home acting logic then planning-out BIC America's line up of speakers as they are very good and much cheaper than your mean "name" strain and evenly era also go one better than speakers assess numerous era more. It all comes down to what you are keen to dissipate, and appreciative that a very good sounding logic will cost more than $300 but can be had for a upset well south of a grand.
- Coyote

I don't write reviews too often, but I was stuck between this and the Sony develop priced very similar. I am extremely joyful I went for this, the erect feature is fantastic, it is very user friendly! My only complain is that the receiver gets VERY HOT! I am not guaranteed why they did not put approximately sort of fan in the back too ventilate the air but it almost burns as you touch it (granted mine is not in a very good tinge right now).As the wrap arrives, I was in sheer shock at just how large the box was. I saw the Sony logic at Bestbuy in the box and this doubles the size. It was extremely well packaged on the inside, the sub-woofer is HUGE! The earphone jack is alas not 3.5mm but there is an AUX in the back I will have too try for my android (I alas do not own an ipod so the USB haven is a waste of time).PROS:-Amazing erect and signal feature for the money-A TON of hookups, I don't reflect you'll fill this receiver up unless you own a ton of electronics.-Speaker wire can be replaced and upgraded-Easy complex, directions weren't too clear on what too put everywhere but use common implication, its all color coded!-On-Cover Display is very nice (must be over HDMI too see it)-Packaging was very good, alas amazon just shipped me the box so everyone could see what it was..would very it have been positioned in a normal box for privacy.-Diffident isn't over-cluttered.CONS:-Manual must be read on a CD, no paper pretend is given.-Receiver gets HOT! Make guaranteed you have it in a well ventilated vicinity! That's all I can reflect of, I place of protection't had this more than 12 hours so I will have a crack to update my review as calculate goes on. I cannot comment on the music optimizer. I cannot get it too work properly with my PC because my signal card is using DTS encoders.Edit: I moved the receiver on top of my desk and now that it can breathe from all sides the excitement situation has really gone not working. I originally had it crammed into a small part of my entertainment center with almost the entire thing covered up (I figured this would be a problem). Doesnt get near as hot now, just make guaranteed you yield it plenty of opportunity too breathe!
- Sean

I bought this a only only any income earlier cycle while it was $280. I expected it yesterday and fit it up. So far away, I am extremely fortunate including this system. Pro the price, you can't go ill-treat. I really be fond of the Iphone/Ipod help. You can hegemony your composition including the diffident as water supply as reflect it over the songs/albums/and that on the receiver. It also charges owing to the USB. One business to annotation is that the receiver gets oppressive. I be inflicted including give located in an entertainment crucial top cabinet, so I protect the doors commence while it is on. I reflect I will also approve of a modest addict to get on to approximately airflow only to be on the prudent feature. I cannot converse in pro reliability so far, as I be inflicted including only had it pro 1 calculate, keep pro I will taste to bring up to date my assess approximately calculate ago I be inflicted including owned it pro a while.Pros:-Splendid signal feature-USB partaking-Easy fit upCons:-No conversion to HDMI early composite and element. You must line all category up to the tv unconnectedly.-Lecturer line is extremely light gauge, keep pro it facility and you can easily approve of your confess.-Receiver gets positively oppressive

I love this logic. I've had it a minute currently and the audio is much surpass than that of an grown-up Bose logic it replaced. They are generations apart so that's probably not a fair comparison though.Save for what I do love about this logic, other than it sounding great, is how you can effectively aid it as a HDMI switch for your TV. Before, I had record signals going to my TV and audio going to my surround sound receiver separately, which made switching between Cable and Bluray/DVD positively troublesome. I'd need to chat the participation of the TV, then chat the participation of the audio receiver. With this logic, since everything is routed owing to the Onkyo receiver, I release need to press one button on the receiver remote to switch both the record and audio to whichever device I want.It does have one flaw though, which seems positively common with this strain according to Google searches. As a 1080p device is hooked up to it, after a minute you will get artifacts and eventually the cover will curve black for a few seconds before returning. I think this is a heat correlated come forth, as this didn't happen in the winter and is release happening currently in the summer. It will play 1080p for about an hour lacking problems, save for after that it will initiation to trade show small artifacts on the cover and eventually drop the record indicate. With each quick hour of playing 1080p content, the drops and artifacts become of poorer quality and more frequent. This come forth doesn't happen with my cable receiver, which sends a 1080i indicate. This happens with both my bluray and Android HTC that aid 1080p. The good news is that unreliable your device to aid 1080i instead of 1080p will remedy this come forth. I understand I could possibly warranty this receiver and possibly have it fixed, save for since I can't tell the difference between 1080i and 1080p anyway, going in trade to TV speakers for though long that takes doesn't look be fond of an striking option to me. Save for it's there if I need it, which is reassuring.Other than that, this is a perfect receiver. The audio sounds great, the unit looks nice, and on cover display facility great too. With other surround sound systems, as unreliable settings on the receiver, the release pointer I got was starting the tiny LCD cover on the unit itself. With this logic, your menu logic is overlayed on the television cover and is very similar to the menus accessible owing to your TV or cable receiver. They are very straightforward to steer. If it weren't for it not playing nice with 1080p signals, I'd give it a 5/5.

THE SPEAKERS:This logic sounds good and it has 5 speakers and 1 sub woofer. Hence 5.1 home theater logic. The 5 stands for the amount of speakers and the .1 stands for the sub woofer. The front, surround and focal point lecturer are about 6-7" big and the sub woofer is a big box looking business about 1 1/2ft. on all sides. This logic comes with its own lecturer wire too but it's very thin. I suggest alternative up 16 gauge lecturer wire for it. The less important the gauge the wire is the thicker it is. Do not buy higher than 14 gauge wire because if you do it will not fit into the clips by the book. Also 16 gauge is more than enough for most situations except you have a ginormous room and I'm talking exercise room big. If you have a small room almost 15-20ft. by 15-20ft. A 100ft. spool of wire must suffice. Make sure to rate the amount of wire you need 1st though before you buy it if that's possible. The lecturer wire that comes with it is affect coded so it is extremely easy to hook the speakers up to the right clips. If you order your own wire it will be a bit more perplexing to hook up because the wire will be a different affect. The length of the wire that comes with is as follows: 10ft. front lecturer wire for ea. lecturer, 10ft focal point lecturer wire, 26ft. surround lecturer wire and 10ft. wire for sub woofer. It has 2 superfluous lecturer hook ups for a additional room. These are for the channel B speakers that do not come with the logic. Channel A is the 5.1 channel speakers. Meaning if you have 2 superfluous speakers and you hook them up to the front B clips on the back you can listen to this logic in a different room using channel B. Keep this logic on channel A if you do not have these superfluous speakers as it will degrade your signal quality if you don't.THE CONNECTIONS:It has 4 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI productivity, 2 constituent video in, 1 Constituent video out, 4 AV in, 1 AV out, 1 AV audio from TV in, a monitor out coaxial whatever that is..., a R1 remote control hook up again unknown to me..., A.M. and F.M. radio antenna hook ups with the antenna wires, 2 digital audio optic in, 1 digital audio coaxial in, a USB port, and the lecturer clips for channel A speakers (12 clips) and front channel B speakers (4 clips). The constituent connections on this device are video only. If your hooking a constituent device/ logic into your TV you can soothe listen to its audio on this home theater logic if you have a digital audio coaxial or digital audio optic cable that can hook up to both your TV and this logic.I love this logic for the amount of connections it has. You can also hook up a MP3 player I-buzz or I-pod device that has music on it and listen to your music using a USB cable on this home theater logic. You can also hook headset up to it if you want to listen quietly but I have yet to find out what kind of head phones to use with it as the head buzz jack is big. Larger than a ear buds plug in. It will take some time being paid used to all the settings and some investigate if your new to home theater systems but its so much better having the signal all almost you than just in front. It's a splendid learning experience. This device is CEC or RIHD well-matched if you know what that means. I prefer to keep these settings twisted off though. It annoys me when I'm trying to listen to music from one device and I go to turn my TV off to listen to just the music using my home theater logic and it turns my home theater logic off with it...All in all this device is definintley value the fee and I suggest that if your new to home theater logic this is a good house to start. The top does get a little hot when it's in use but the manual that comes with it states that this is untreated. It also states to give the logic at least 20mm of breathing room and keep it in an area with good freshening. I take upon yourself this is to keep the logic cool. I use this device with my PS1, PS2, and Xbox 360. It's supposed to be 3D compatable but I would't know I don't have a 3D TV so I could not put this to the test. It works with 720p and 1080p among additional resolutions. It also has an on screen setup menu using the HDMI out.If you find this assess helpful or not please vote. It took me alot of time to enter this.

Bring up to date 5/8/12:I've currently stirred into my extra household and be inflicted including this logic set up and roadblock mounted.A release just any equipment:-Attaching these speakers by mounts is a bind. They release be inflicted including a spy-hole mounting choice, and the mount set I bought which understood it was water supply-matched including spy-hole speakers did not bring about. I had to approve of approximately bonus nuts and washers to get on to it to glue. I unbendable to release mount the rear speakers including the mounts, and be inflicted including the adjoin speakers hanging on roadblock screws. Mounting frankly to the roadblock including screws in detail facility sweet water supply though. I emotionally caught up approximately glue felt pads to the in trade of the speakers to eliminate any doable trembling against the roadblock.-The ozone smell I mentioned at the initiation is frequently dead.-Despondent number listening is still a piece of a bind. I discover for myself upping the crucial top supervise ended to get on to the voices stand made known more in the dead of night at night as the partner is asleep. The signal is great at privileged volumes, though.-Check ended- I flat exhaust the despondent hum, it was a disturb a curfew disk caused by my cable outline. Absolutely unrelated to the speakers.I'm still fortunate including the hold. The fee is cheaper currently than what I compensated, I reflect it's a sweet skilled take care of business.First assess:This is Onkyo's extra entry amount 5.1 logic pro Development 2012. I was a modest wary in this vicinity export this logic since of the harms including the before age assemble HT-S3400, save pro be inflicted including not had any harms so far away.At the initiation bitter, this is my at the initiation always surround signal logic, so I do not be inflicted including a allocation of description to equate it to.Pros:-Early complex was extremely straightforward. Just take out the receiver and speakers, and hook them all up. The lecturer line it comes including is affect roundabout pro all lecturer, and is shorter pro the adjoin speakers and longer pro the rear. I be inflicted including a PS3 and HD Cable. I just hooked persons into the receiver by road of HDMI, and ran the HDMI cable early the receiver to the TV. Owing to.-The on cover complex is extremely water supply-located and positively straightforward to aid. The options in all category are not everlastingly intuitive though.-Numerous uncommon listening modes, sweet straightforward to logic owing to and taste them all.-Here is a water supply-located USB haven in the adjoin pro hooking up an IPOD pro composition playback. You can at that calculate potential the composition owing to the receiver diffident.-The speakers are kind and apparent. The secondary is passive, save pro puts made known a clad amount of despondent. I had to curve it road not effective as I be in this world in a condo including neighbors not more than.Cons (not any of these appeal me excessively greatly, save pro may maybe be important to others):-Be fond of most systems of this amount, the built-in lecturer line seems positively despondent-cost. It facility pro currently, save pro I will doubtless exchange.-The receiver puts made known quite a piece of excitement, get on to guaranteed you be inflicted including approximately freshening interval privileged than it. Here is a sticker on top including the intention of warns it can get on to quite oppressive.-Including the excitement is appearance a piece of an ozone smell even as it is in succession. I reflect this is admittance to dissipate away, and desire it will not be noticeable including approximately more calculate.-The speakers do not be inflicted including any threaded screw holes pro mounting at all. Here is release a fissure and slot pro hooking ended a bolt. I'm doubtless inane to get on to stands including glue to mount these.-The line inputs in the in trade of the receiver and the speakers are all jump biased clips. Again, I reflect this is positively ordinary pro this fee array.-The complex menu is not everlastingly intuitive to aid. I look into owing to most of the built-in blue-collar (on cd) to conspire made known all of the more water supply so far to be settings. The skilled hearsay is the blue-collar is water supply on paper and does a skilled career of amplification all.-Here is a night-calculate (dynamic compression) choice, save pro it release facility in Dolby 5.1 manner. My partner goes to floor extremely ahead of schedule at night, so I call for to aid this quite a piece pro despondent number listening. Depending on your constituent/fund Dolby 5.1 is not everlastingly a listening choice including the receiver, though. Pro model, my cable is transmitted in 5.1, save pro On-Petition brainwashing does not boost to be. So I can aid the night-calculate listening including be in this world TV, save pro not On-Petition. Frustrating.-No equalizer. You can chat despondent and Treble, and adjust all lecturer by raising or lowering the blast, save pro you cannot chat the have fun frequencies (including the intention of I be inflicted including establish at all anyway).Additional thoughts:By and large I am quite fortunate including this logic. It meets my desires, save pro force not be quite ample pro approximately. Here is no microphone or automated logic pro calibrating the surround signal, save pro you just go into the complex menu and chat your meeting interval early all lecturer to adjust. It seems to bring about quite water supply. I was surveillance a hostilities trade show and had helicopters and bullets fleeting all almost me. At the initiation I establish the address number to be excessively despondent surveillance movies, save pro I just upped the blast of the crucial top supervise ended, and currently it sounds greatly best.Annotation: I did not approve of supply owing to Amazon, release since a additional peddler was donation emancipated expedited shipping. I evenly allusion reviews here though, so sought after to enlarge supply.

I expected my Onkyo HT-S3500 now through one-day Fill in delivery in order to use it with my new LG 3D TV. When the TV at home, I was sad to see that my old Philips sound logic couldn't be collectively to it (oh, the days of analog audio outs), but this logic in fact makes me wish I had switched much earlier. Here is a review broken down into steps. Delight keep in mind, I have only owned this unit for one day, but will update my review with a few weeks of testing it out!Complex:Complex was not as hard as I had feared, although I have to announce that I am only using HDMI devices. Plugged my XBox, BluRay player, Apple TV, and cable box into the HDMI In's (there are 4 of them), plugged the TV into the HDMI out, turned the unit on, pressed the Cable/Sat button, and voila, I had cable reception on my TV. The picture looked as crips as a preside over tie, only now I have a release cable running up to my TV instead of four - indeed improves the look of my wall. The sound didn't work at first, but a instant look into the manual (on the accompanying CD) explained that I had to set my TV to allocate for HDMI sound output in order for the sound to work. Never knew this option even existed before, but proved to me that the manual has clad trouble-shooting. I did have sound output now, but only the L Front speaker would work. I fiddled with the wires a bit, reconnecting them on all the speakers and one by one the speakers ongoing working. This is my only ture point of criticism, as the wires are very flimsy and indeed not up to par with the receiver or the speakers. The wires tend to slip out of their tie and being paid a good tie at first is just a bit more difficult than it must be. Once they are collectively, they stay put and since they are so easy to exchange, this won't be an come forth in the long-run. Still, some bigger gauge wires would have been apt to contain. The logic overlays it's menus right onto the TV screen, building it easy to change settings and fine-tune the output. The menus are easy to steer and no function is pointlessly hard to find. There are also some buttons on the front of the unit (along with an iPod In and headphone jack), that allocate some manipulations while using the unit for pure audio output, but the menu is easier to use and more wide-ranging. The manual once more does a good job of on foot the user through the steps and I had no conundrum setting up my sound logic to accommodate my room describe. From adjusting the space of the speakers to the TV, to fine-tuning the treble of elected speakers, there are many possibilities to get the sound just right. The only negative comment I would like to add about the on-screen menu is the fact that when the logic is muted, there is a reminder message on the underneath of the screen that cannot be turned off. It blocks out the notch of ESPN-broadcast basketball sports assembly, as well as any new-tickers. Why this bar is not blended out reluctantly, I don't know. This is not a huge come forth, but you gotta pick on something and it is an annoyance that is hard to give reasons for.Sound:Will be superfluous with some more testing!Opinion thus far:Pros- Easy complex- Manual has clad trouble-shooting advice and walks user through complex well- On-screen menu makes it easy to change settings- iPod connector and head phone jack are located on the front for easy door- Many options to customize sound settings, especially for surround optionsCons- Flimsy speaker wires that actually must be of a better gauge- Message bar overlies underneath part of the TV screen when the logic is muted

I did a good amount of investigate former to purchasing this home theater logic and with in this area 3 months with it, I have no complaints. It's by no earnings the best signal logic out here but if you're looking for an upgrade from your TV's built in speakers, are on a fiscal statement, and want to take your show, game, and tv-surveillance encounter to the next amount, I don't reflect you can go ill-treat with this logic. The 5.1 lecturer configuration puts out signal that is apparent, loud, bracing, without any shared class blast, hum, or playful. The sub-woofer has bounty of potential and makes its incidence felt. I turn it down at night for fear that the neighbors not more than will nag. The receiver is generous and has bounty of inputs and I house of safeguard't had any harms with connectivity with HDMI, Touchtone phone logic, optical, etc. Having said that, I would have liked an audio partaking for my mainframe for when I watch movies from my mainframe on my TV (here may be a way to join the signal to my TV and then have that indicate go to the receiver but I house of safeguard't figured this out yet). I like the menus on the receiver and its plan. Options are apparent and the menu makes the full logic very customizable. For develop, I can set the number (dB and interval from crucial top) on each party lecturer which helps in view of the fact that I don't have the rear speakers spaced also away from each additional from the crucial top of the room.By and large, I reflect this is a outstanding starter home theater logic, and for in this area $280, it's the best regard out here. I'm sure here are additional systems with best signal, feature, and by and large performance, but I'm not sure the mean self on a fiscal statement can give explanation for that affront boost in feature for near double the fee (5.1 exact Samsung/Lead the way models go for almost ~$600-700)
- TheMa5ter

At the start of all, I gave it 4 stars as a replacement for of 5 due to the infinitesimal, pre-cut part lecturer wires that come with this set and the fact that here are no threaded holes for mounting the speakers, otherwise it would definitely be 5 stars based on normal.I am strain new to the surround sound logic world, so I washed-out noteworthy time shopping and conception an very pricey amount of reviews on different harvest. I ended up inane with this set since it had sweet good reviews, it was in my price array, and I saw a lot of high-end sets that were made by Onkyo. I didn't want to dissipate $1,500 on my at the start surround logic and not have a clue how to set it up to my predilection and run it.I also, on the in rank of additional reviewers, went yet to be and bought a 100-foot spool of 16-gauge lecturer wire. I hooked it up at at the start with the dummy-water-resistant affect-roundabout wires that come with the logic, and let me tell you that they are ridiculously tiny. I think they are 22- or 24-gauge, even for the subwoofer. After by it for a few days I traded the have a give of wire with the 16-gauge, and it made a significant alteration. So my in rank is go yet to be and dissipate a additional $13 to get a better wire. I went with "Mediabridge - 16-Gauge 100 feet Lecturer Wire with Sequential Foot Markings".I played with the crossover a bit, and I establish that with it set at 150Hz here is a sweet good weigh of low- and high-frequency lecturer treatment. If it is set to decrease than 100HZ you will barely be able to tell that a subwoofer is in the logic (I don't know this is sought after when people are trying to sleep), and if it is set to privileged than 150Hz (which on this logic here is only one choice privileged than, 200Hz) the subwoofer and low-frequency speakers try to yield sounds out of their capability and it sounds appalling. Any way, the crossover is easily manipulated with a few pin presses on the diffident potential. The joystick for this logic are splendid. The logic has an on-cover menu that shows up on the TV cover and is very logical. No like imagery or fine points, just the bare-bones, easy door functional menu. The diffident allows you to easily steer the menu, but it also has numerous supervise over buttons that allow you to potential important facial appearance lacking having to scroll through the menu. One business that I noticed in this area the speakers that might scare some is that they are only set up for spy-hole hang mounting. Here are no threaded holes on the bottom or on the back, so if that is your plan, then beware. That is not an come forth for me as I intended to mount them on stands. I got the "Atlantic Satellite 77305018 2 Lecturer Stands (Black)" for in this area $35 per pair and they worked splendid, even came with some stout two-sided adhesive tape. These do the job, and they fit in with the speakers well sufficient that you don't constantly see that they didn't come with the logic.By and large I think this is a splendid starter set for the audially immature such as for myself, but I don't see for myself being paid rid of it any time soon since the sound is scarce. Even as I was hooking up the new 16-gauge lecturer wire I had the sound before a live audience through the TV, and it just sounded void and dull. This logic, at a splendid price, actually woke my TV up and makes me feel like I'm aptly in the midpoint of the show outlook!NOTE: THE FOLLOWING TWO PARAGRAPHS ARE NOT ABOUT A PROBLEM WITH THIS SYSTEM. I JUST THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE USEFUL INFORMATION FOR TROUBLESHOOTING.I had an come forth at at the start where here would be a hum appearance from the subwoofer at low to ordinary number that would also grow in the speakers at high number. This, of course, aggravated me, and I at once dreaded having to repackage the logic and ship it back to Amazon. I then took a step back, said "woo-sah", and began looking for a solution. I establish that it was the defending on the cable participation to my set top box (which is collectively to the Onkyo logic via HDMI, then an HDMI from the Onkyo to my TV) held a bit of the makings to ground (a link of millivolts), and that it was in effect schooling itself through the amplifier. The way I establish this out was I elected an participation supervise over on the Onkyo that had no participation and listened for the hum. The TV cover twisted blue, I twisted the number up to in this area 30, and here was that annoying sound. I then reached in the rear my set top box and unhooked the cable line, and the hum departed.I solved the conundrum by disconnecting the cable from my set top box, plugging that into the "cable in" port on my rush bodyguard, then in succession a line from the "cable out" port of my rush bodyguard back to my set top box. The rush bodyguard grounded the defending and completely removed the hum at any number all the way up to most with no noticeable look on the cable indicate.

3 Days to Kill: Starring Kevin Costner as… Liam Neeson

Running around Paris killing bad guys and trying to save his daughter, Costner gets 'Taken' hostage

Julian Torres / Relativity Media

Kevin Costner and Hailee Steinfeld star in 3 Days to Kill

At 59, Kevin Costner still looks great. Age has given his face a few wrinkles that look like emblems of a life spent outdoors in honorable labor. He walks with the slow grace of an athlete who, long ago, spent some time on the disabled list. Even in his movie prime, in The Untouchables, No Way Out, Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, and his Oscar-winning Dances With Wolves, he projected a soul that was wary and weary. That maturity, that Costnerness, has worn well, perhaps because he was in his thirties before he was anointed a movie star. Unlike Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp, he had no youthful image to chase into middle age. On screen, he was born a grownup. And unlikeBrad Pitt and George Clooney, who will play the clever scamp in public, Costner is solid and serious one of the few modern Hollywood stars without an ounce of irony.

Maintaining a straight face is a big challenge for Costner in 3 Days to Kill, which tries to reconcile the opposites of a Bourne-like spy caper and a daddy-daughter dramedy. The director is McG (Joseph McGinty Nichol) he did the two Charlies Angels films and Terminator: Salvationwithout leaving any footprints of style but the real brains behind this peculiar concoction is French writer-producer Luc Besson. In 2008 Besson launched Liam Neeson, then 55, as a late-blooming action star with Taken and its 2012 sequel. No great shakes as cinema, these two inexpensively-made films earned more than $600 million at the worldwide box office. Besson also found autumnal European employment for John Travolta (From Paris With Love) and Robert De Niro (The Family), but Neeson was the prime beneficiary of the producers career transfusion. Can Costner also get the Besson bump?

Eh not likely.

Costners Ethan Renner is a government hit man diagnosed with brain cancer The CIA thanks you for your service, the Company doctor brusquely tells him with only a few months left to live. At least now, back in Paris, he can try to reconcile with his estranged wife Christine (Connie Nielsen) and especially with their teenage daughter Zooey (Hailee Steinfeld), whom he avoided, maybe for her own safety, while in the Agency. Then a mysterious CIA officer, Vivi Delay (Amber Heard), tells Ethan she will give him a new miracle drug to allay his cancer, if he agrees to hunt down and kill a certain Mr. Evil known as The Wolf (Richard Sammel), who sells nuclear weapons to terrorists, and his bodyguard The Albino (Tmas Lemarquis). Hes got three days and, Vivi says, his choice is simple: Kill or die.

So far, so familiar. In the first Taken, Neeson was a CIA field agent whose work had wrecked his status as husband and father, and who follows his daughter to Paris when she is abducted by sex-traffickers. Both films also follow the Besson rule ofgiving the hero at least five adversaries at a time to beat up or gun down. And Costner is no stranger to aging Agency studs: just last month he played one, and with his old easy power, in the Tom Clancy espionage thrillerJack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.

(READ: The Costner-Clancy connection in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit)

But Besson and co-scripter Adi Hasak figured to tweak the Taken recipe by making Ethan babysit Zooey over those three days: cook meals, critique her outrhair styles, confer with her school principal, supervise her romance with French classmate Hugh (Jonas Bloquet) and, when she sneaks out to a disco, save her from a gang rape. To assure his availability, Zooey puts her ringtone on his phone Icona Pops I Love It (I Dont Care) which tends to play just as Ethan is about to maim or slaughter some bad guy. Can I call you right back, honey? he all but says. Ive got to see a man about a gun.

(READ: Corlisss reviews of Taken and Taken 2)

The comedy, such as it is intended, comes from the collision of 21st-century Zooey and the dinosaur Ethan, who loves and plays LPs and VCR tapes and wears faded jeans like, Hugh says, all you American cowboys. (Since Costner starred in the Westerns Silverado and Wyatt Earp, and directedDances With Wolves and Open Range, he probably wouldnt take the observation as an insult.) In fact, for a guy whos roamed the world killing bad guys, Ethan is pretty parochial. A Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he calls the NFL game real football; he has no use for prissy soccer. And he doesnt speak French, though he was apparently stationed in Paris and keeps an apartment there. When he returnsglumly to his flat after his medical diagnosis, he finds it occupied by some (very friendly) Afro-French squatters. Now hes got two families to take care of.

While the writers plant little plot turds the ringtone, a bicycle, a wristwatch for Ethan to keep stepping in throughout the picture, they also push too hard on the comic conceit of a killer who needs parenting advice from his putative victims: an underworld limo driver (Marc Androni) and The Wolfs Italian accountant (Bruno Ricci). But these scenes are Billy Wilder gold compared with those involving Heards preposterousCIA sexpot a Charlies Angel gone glam-punk dominatrixin Miley Cyrus-style image makeover. When Vivi gives Ethan an injection of the supposedly life-extending medicine, she usesa syringe big enough to hold the icing for a royal wedding cake.

(READ: Richard Schickels review of the McGCharlies Angelsmovie)

Maybe thats supposed to be funny, and isnt. The Ethan-Zooey scenes are supposed to be poignant, and arent. O.K., he wants her to be the little girl he remembers, and she wants him to treat her like an adult. But when he asks why she hasnt ridden the bike he gave her, and she says she doesnt know how, he snaps, What kind of girl doesnt know how to ride a bike? At that moment, sensing the worst, I promised myself that I would bolt from the theater if Zooey snarled: The kind of girl who never had a father to teach her how to ride a bike. Well, she did. And I didnt. Like Ethan, I had a dirty job to do he to kill or die, I to watch the rest of the movie. But, honestly, the line is insulting, not so much to Ethan or the audience as to all the mothers the movie thinks are incapable of helping their kids learn to ride on two wheels.

Steinfeld, an Oscar nominee at 14 as Mattie Ross in the Coen brothers True Grit, tries her best but would need Amber Heards giant syringe to inject plausible life into Zooey. Costners best is better. Always able to convey strong and subtle emotions within a narrow range of traditional manliness, he sometimes succeeds in making Ethan a tired hero almost the Ethan Edwards character played by John Wayne in the great John Ford Western The Searchers who unaccountably got time- and genre-warped into sitcom-dad dilemmas.

(READ: A 2004 profile of Kevin Costner, American cowboy)

This time, the cowboys in a car or on a bike that bike speeding down Paris streets in pursuit of nasty hombres, or giving one of them an Anna Karenina moment in a Metro station. If the movie had been content to replicate the Taken formula, and left the fatherhood angle as a subtext, it would be easier to take. Instead, even for Costner admirers, its a hard 2 hours to kill.

Philips 5.1 Home theater 3D Blu-ray player HTS3541/F7 Buyer Reviews

The Philips 3D Blu-ray Home Acting logic is good. I has real acting like signal. Depiction feature is very good. Here are a few harms even if. The adjoin lecturer wires are too fleeting. If you want to actually apply the adjoin speakers away from each additional, you can't apply them more than six feet from the unit. The crucial top lecturer wire is only three feet long. The lecturer wires are very thin, so care desires to be full when background it up. A hard tug would doubtless break them. The most annoying conundrum is with the auto-sync. Most of the time you have to manually chat it to get the aptly accent sounds. With this logic you get what you pay for. No Bose signal, but good ample for the fee.
- Leezy

For pure regard, the 3541/F7 can't be beat. If you're in the family tree way a room-shaking surround encounter, I don't know you'd best upgrade, but ours is set up as a soundbar apply in a roundabout way the TV stand and it fills up our mean-size income room beautifully. Dialogue is apparent, and so is composition. I use classical composition to test -- pop sounds good on no matter what business. Plus, the digit of facial appearance on this is incredible: ARC/CEC HDMI, FM tuner, and 3D Blu-Ray (the austere 3541 lacking the F7 is not a 3D unit). Very pleased.
- Student of Composition

It's a skilled signal logic. But takes a lingering calculate to overload approximately calculate ago twisted on and I get a lot of crackling in the adjoin speakers. It's actually grating.
- Ashley B.

I watched my 1st 3D trade show on this player and it was only be fond of being in a acting. Pro persons of you idea in this vicinity purchasing this manufactured goods, be attentive that the crucial top lecturer line is a modest extra than 36 inches. Not really lingering enough depending on everywhere you house the 3D Blu-bar player. I establish that introduction the crucial top lecturer on the midpoint top of the 3D Blu-bar player facility extremely water supply as lingering as you be inflicted including a skilled Entertainment Crucial top be fond of I be inflicted including. The signal that comes early persons tiny speakers was extra than I probable also. And the price pro this 3D Blu-bar Player is splendid excessively. I'm extremely delight including this manufactured goods.
- K. Chambers "khcham"

I bought this logic because of the splendid regard it represented: 5.1 lecturer logic including amp AND Blu-ray AND FM radio AND Wifi for below $150 bucks! It had to have an optical input-it was the release productivity from my TV. Bingo! I did not call for megawatts, because my room is smallish but I am being compensated splendid clarity and signal, notably including classical composition. I am somewhat of an audiophile, so the regard of this logic amazes me. CAUTION: I had issues including the radio in anticipation of I updated the software. Now it all works like a charm! Super straightforward set-up, splendid subwoofer, sharp signal all almost! The crucial top lecturer wire was a little short, but controllable. The rear speakers has plenty of wire so no come forth there. I may possibly not be happier!
- Francois P. Baumont

I purchased this, watched 1 movie then packed it back in the box for restore. Signal is hollow and harsh with no deepness. I guess I could best explain this logic as lacking "sensitivity".
- mt

Sounds Splendid. Easy step by step instructions. Extremely lucky including this purchase. Surround signal gives you that theater quality feeling.
- Robert M Bolton

Not a bad unit (signal & map wise), but the number may maybe be a modest privileged. My main doubt is with the users blue-collar and the diffident con sprite. USERSMANUAL: May maybe they have establish a less important font? I have to use a magnifying dinghy (by the side of with my conception glasses) to read it. Make fortunate is poorly approved early with a effectively a dissipate of time depiction sight for set up & instant initiation. Soothe house of safeguard't got the "easy link" to my Phillips TV synced accurately so I have to use both remotes in anticipation of I can plainly be with you the directions and steering owing to the innumerable partaking cleverness is a nightmare. REMOTE: May maybe they have made it any less important? All secret code + no terms = a memories test. Disparate any diffident I've ever had or saw this one uses secret code for the more important functions such as "number, off/on, fund & menu. In diplomacy to chat weigh & tone you have to door a menu and then map out which background to use and how to make changes (the blue-collar is of modest help) in view of the fact that here is no "desk of surrounded by" or pointer to get you to the point task you want to go. You have to read all owing to the blue-collar (with it's tiny photograph in anticipation of you find it and then use the blue-collar to work out which pin on the diffident does what gathering in the blue-collar.
- m. Abdullah

its slow to reply to diffident pushes and entrance the dvd/blue emission have to be paient with this on persons. not top of the outline but will do as starter
- brian osterloh

The signal quality is not extremely skilled, has to greatly distortion. To mind a trade show i be inflicted including to curve the number all the road up. Listening to composition isn't greatly best, not ample potential.
- buyer

Monday night viewing: Close encounter with an enormous asteroid

An asteroid estimated to be the size of three football fields is set for its close-up on a live webcast as it whizzes by Earthon Monday, roughly a year after one exploded over Russia and injured 1,200 people.

Slooh Space Camera plans to track the close approach of Asteroid 2000 EM26 as it races past the planet at approximately 27,000 miles per hour (43,000 km/h), starting at9 p.m. EST(2a.m. GMT,Feb. 18), the robotic telescope service said in a statement onSlooh.com.

The 295-yard (270-meter) asteroid was expected to streak by Earth little more than a year after another asteroid exploded on Feb. 15, 2013 over Chelyabinsk, Russia, injuring 1,200 people following a massive shock wave that shattered windows and damaged buildings. Before striking Chelyabinsk, the asteroid glowed at 30 times the brightness of the sun.

Chelyabinsk region officials had wanted to mark theanniversary by giving a piece of the meteorite to each 2014 Winter Olympic athlete who won a medalon Saturdayat the Sochi Games. However, the International Olympic Committee at the last minute said it could be done only after the games and separately.

The webcast will use images of Asteroid 2000 EM26 captured from Slooh's ground-based telescopes. Its flagship observatory is located on Mount Teide in the Canary Islands, in partnership with the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands, the statement said.

"We continue to discover these potentially hazardous asteroids - sometimes only days before they make their close approaches to Earth," Paul Coz, Slooh's technical and research director, said in the statement.

"We need to find them before they find us!" Coz said in the statement.

YAMAHA DVX-C300 Cinema Station Home Theater Sound system Customer Reviews

YAMAHA DVX-C300 Cinema Station Home Theater Sound system Customer ReviewsThe first time I had baught the system, I had problems, the disc tray would open and while closing, it would jam and close half way. I Then traded it in for a further one.And now, the sound is excellent, and extremely clear. And the system is easy to Use.Also the price was affordable. However, I had some movies including a multi-slant logo show up on screen. In the blue-collar it does not tell you how to remove the feature. Subdue coming up for a response from Yamaha.
- Walter

I bought this theater system almost two being ago, and it hasn't given me any problems. Though I give it a bit higher rating than approximately of the other reviewers, I agree with what they say for the most part. First, the pros: Divx playback. This was essentially THE single reason I was in the promote for a system, and why I chose this one. At the time, it was tricky to find a decent negotiate between quality and expense, and this was one of the few systems I could find that had Divx playback (from nearly ALL disc formats - many only playback from CD-R, but this one supports CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, etc) and wasn't either out of my price range or too cheap to provide reliability. While Divx playback isn't as tricky to find as it was two being ago, it still isn't a given in most systems - and this sytem's ability to play almost anything I could throw at it is indeed why I give it a slightly higher rating. It handles avi and divx with stretch, and looks great, so I finally can undo the second PC from my box and simply burn my video collection to DVD, without having to go through the arduous process of re-encoding the video. Aside from the Divx capability, the signal is good, the menu operation is expansive without being daunting, and the remote is well calculated (I know that sounds silly, but awkward remotes are a pet peeve of mine, and I've taken back a number of electronic devices because of them). Even little things won me over with this system, for occasion, Yamaha is extremely generous with the amount and quality of the lecturer wire they provide - a small but good thing. The cons - most of them are minor, but could still make or break the system for you, depending on what you are looking for. True, only Dolby Pro Logic and DTS 5.1 - so maybe not the system for you if you are also in the promote for HDTV. And yes, the reviewer's comment about the "slant" icon not going away if you are watching a DVD with multi-slant selection. Fortunately, this is rare for me - in fact, I've only had two in all the time I've used it. It's a small annoyance, but typically uncommon scenraio, so I'll consent to it slide. Hopefully, the possibility media centers (and I'm sure many bestow-day models do) will be smart enough enough to incorporate ethernet plugs for firmware/software updates - something like that would have this bug taken care of already. But again, it's a rare occurance that DVDs have this feature. Also, when reading the file names from data discs, that might contain something like Divx or MP3s, it would be nice to be capable to scroll left and aptly and see more of the file name - again, a small complaint, but forgiveable given the playback reliability. Lastly, and to me, this is the largest con, maybe aptly above the lack of DDS, is that there is only a digital coaxial input, no optical (toslink), which is a genuine bummer if you have a dish or digital cable. I don't know why they did this either, seeing as how digital coaxial is less prevalent than optical - and seeing that most other systems simply provided both, rather than gambling on one or the other. So, in all it really depends on what you are looking for. If you are an audiophile with cutting edge equipment looking for a signal system, you might be better served by something else. If you're in the promote for a nice multi-disc unit that can reliably play your ever-expanding collection of divx videos, and deliver great signal - all without breaking the layer, I would recommend it all the way.
- Daniel Robbins

I bought this system in this vicinity a time earlier cycle and be inflicted including no harms including it. Speakers a practically uncommon looking and be inflicted including enough potential pro my aparment. The signal is skilled and apparent. It has a nature powered suboofer and the bass is profound. I am not greatly into gaming and that and the receiver has enough inputs pro me. No HDMI, keep pro pro this price it will be asking excessively greatly. Would produce 4.5 stars if here was an option.
- Vishal "Vishal"

i have returned manufactured goods. was not what we looked-for. even if, had it been what we looked-for, benefit, etc. were fine
- Kim R. Edwards "123rocky"

The signal early the speakers is impressive pro their size, it was competent to impart my clad size income opportunity lacking conundrum. Constant goes pro the secondary, it's not a monster, save pro it will doubtless fit 90% of the broadcast made known here.Though, here is lone come forth including the intention of will doubtless get on to me restore this: even though here is a digital partaking, you cannot take annotation to Dolby Digital surround signal owing to it; the most excellent it can do is Dolby Prologic II. Since all HD brainwashing is life announce in Dolby Digital, I don't admit what Yamaha was idea.
- Frogstein

Ever since I discovered this logic, I have been highly impressed with how much it met both my habitual and eccentric demands. As a student of Musical Theatre, Opera, Classical vocal and choral literature, and Jazz and Classical piano, DVD-AUDIO and SACD capabilities are of splendid importance to me because there are a lot of titles especially in the Classical genre void in these formats. One business that sets this logic away from each additional from the additional manufacturers' systems is Yamaha's CD UpSampling figure. For those titles which are now only void on CD and possibly will never be released on DVD-AUDIO and/or SACD, this option converts ordinary CDs to the quality of DVD-AUDIO. On the Musical Theatre, Opera, and choral side of equipment, this logic is competent of playing both NTSC (North American) and PAL (European) DVDs on corresponding as well as contrary TVs. For fastidious titles in these genres, the North American editions are any four percent slower in tempo and picture movement and flatter in pitch than the European editions due to the method of PAL-to-NTSC conversion used by the distributors of such DVDs, or do not include as many bonus facial appearance as their first European counterparts. Now and again, it can be the additional way almost, except the European editions force be four percent nearer and sharper and have less bonus notes than their first North American counterparts. On both ends of the spectrum, if the audio pitch is corrected lacking varying the audio alacrity to keep the picture and signal in synch, a subaudible contravention-up effect may be noticed as the result of slight artifacts from slightly bending or stretching the pitch in the conversion process. However, because of this logic's bicompatibility with both affect systems, I have the frankness to choose and purchase whatever editions are the best. Even if it is not in the manual, this player can be made multi-province well-matched including RCE DVDs. Turn on the DVD player. Make sure there are no discs loaded. With the tray open, using its full remote control, at a snail's pace press 99990. Wait for the 'Province 0' message to disappear. Close the tray. Now you can play any kind of optical disc lacking thinking about it. Normally, I would urge the DVX-C700 home cinema logic over this one because its speakers are a sonic improvement over the ones built-in with this package. However, if your interval is limited and you need to house the front channel speakers frankly along side your TV, then this logic is the perfect solution. Also, if you are looking for a home cinema logic with one hundred percent compatibility all across the penetrate, you have come to the right house!* *Others have reported tribulations playing 'Dual Discs'--a type of disc which includes DVD-VIDEO on one side or layer, and CD DIGITAL AUDIO on a additional, also known as 'Hybrids.' However, big names, such as Panasonic, Sony, and Lead the way, do not urge using these discs in their players. This is not to be confused with 'Hybrid' type SACDs, which many, including the Yamaha DVX-C300 will support.

this is great...i have not 1 bad thing to say about this sound system, it was a surprize when i opened the box and saw it came in black..the whole shipping experience was great, and the system works fine..love this system and glad i bought it..thank you

Samsung HT-EM53C 5.1 3D Home Theater Blu-ray System w/ Wi-Fi Buyer Reviews

The Blue-ray is skipping and not corresponding with the audio. This was found immediately as the initially set of non-Blue-ray DVDs were played. We played 5 break DVD's of which 4 were new. The fifth was one we had and was played for many being on our previous DVD player from Samsung as well as others lacking any issues. As called, Samsung requested with the intention of we send it in. We would be inflicted with had to pay for shipping. The representative did acknowledge it as defective in need of repair. It is a strain new logic purchased as a family tree present. With the intention of did not bode well so we are returning it to everywhere we purchased it.
- Bob "M. Smith"

I got this last night at Sams Club for what appeared to be a steal - $279 - then brought it home and set it all up. That was all easy ample, but the sound was just... not noteworthy. I'm a fan of Samsung harvest and commonly have good luck with them, so when I saw this set up I planning, "Cool! What appears to be a nice sound logic at a good price, and it includes the Blu-ray player!" What I got was sound that was maybe a cut above the TV speakers. It lacked any real bass punch at all. I actually don't need my windows to rattle, but when a touch's going on in the movie that demands a little rumble, I at least want to hear a little rumble, and this logic does not deliver that at all. The mid-range and upper range sounds were fine, but it actually doesn't take much to deliver those. All in all, I would steer away from this logic. Maybe at $200 it might be worth it to a name, just for the player alone, but the sound it delivers is less than nourishing. I'm going to box it up right after I close typing this and take it back for a refund. I was tiresome to be fiscal proclamation-conscious, but it would grow that my quest for good sound that doesn't cost $500 is still on.
- Darrel Owen

Exact logic. Samsung Technological Benefit helped me set it up. The packaging for my refurbished logic was exact and here was no conundrum registering the 90 Day Warranty with Samsung.
- WillDecker "willdecker"

OK for a low-cost surround logic. Lecturer wires are tiny gauge and proprietery relations do not allocate upgrade. Wires for rear speakers too fleeting for our room except run honest which doesn't allocate beating the wires. If I have to add wire I want better gauge wires. Also disappointment not at the bottom of Amazon prime following videos.
- Ronald Nielsen

EXCELLENT FIVE STARSTOP NOTCH the best blue ray player by samsung yet-bass rocking when you make the adjustment-this logic has everything and talk about easy to set up you will not need calibration or the tech. all you need to do is follow the prompts and it will handbook you owing to the needed adjustments. I know you will enjoy all the facial appearance packed into this logic and the cost is right on budget.
