Klipsch CS700 / CS-700 / CS-700 2.1 Home Theater with DVD and Wireless Audio Recent Reviews

Klipsch CS700 / CS-700 / CS-700 2.1 Home Theater with DVD and Wireless Audio Recent Reviews
I purchased this last week from Amazon (One Call) and it was easy to hook up except missing one cable for my set-up. I did need assistance from someone else to program the remote. I find this system to be amazing for the price. Very powerful speakers. I Love it and would definitely recommend it to a friend.

Just wanted to throw in my two cents. I have been looking for a 2.1, 3.1, or soundbar setup in my living room. While I have a few top quality components (SVS Sub, some Energy Speakers) I simply do not have the space for a full 5.1 setup right now. I have been researching different items for months and last week finally started my journey to listen to them and see how they do.The first place I went was my local Sony store. While I figured I'd be able to hear the CT 100 just about anywhere, I wanted to hear the CT 500 in comparison. I could sum up both systems with a word "tinny". I'm not sure what other people are hearing or maybe it was the room that washed out the sound but, I was hugely unimpressed. The sound field seemed to be directly in front of the CT 100 and the CT 500 while slightly better did nothing to wow me.The next place I went was a local Hi Fi shop to see what they had available. There, they had the Polk Soundbar, though I am uncertain to which model. The sound, while better then the Sonys again left me unimpressed. The sound quality was more detalied and rich, tonality was improved as well, but while it would be an improvement over my TV speakers it would not do much to make for a small home theater system.Again, disappointed I returned home to do more research. At this point I just started to go to random manufacturers websites, eventually stumbling to Klipsch. I saw the CS 700 and then looked that up some more. I'm sure for those that have searched have hit the same wall as me, there really isn't anything. A thread on AVS forums. A few "preview" type articles here and there but, nothing too informative.I figured Best Buy would carry them. As soon as I went to the HT section I asked one of the lads there. Not surprisingly he gave me the same response as I would have gotten from my dog, a blank stare. I started to walk out and a Magnolia guy asked me if he could help. I told him what I was looking for and he knew what it was right away! I figured this is my chance to hear it but, instead he takes me to an aisle where there are two CS 700 boxes. There was no set up just those two closed. The closeout price was $699 and I was on the fence on whether to buy or not.I bit the bullet and brought it home. I have to say I was and continue to be floored! The sound of this little system is astounding. Bass is fantastic, and the wireless sub makes placement much easier. The two speakers are really the stars. Even at full volume there is no sign of distortion. Simply clear, detailed sound with excellent fidelity. What is best for me is low volume listening is just as detailed as a full tilt. The DVD/receiver is decent enough. No Blue Ray but, the DVD quality is good, and the set up like the rest of the system is dead simple. I paired it to my TV via a Digital Optical Input and HDMI for video/sound out of the unit. The morning after I purchased it, my finance and I were watching our little nephews. In reality I knew this would be the perfect excuse to put the system to a test. While they were there we watched Kung Fu Panda and Meet the Robinsons. Both movies were sublime! The sound field is incredible, it fills the entire room and regardless of where you sit you get excellent separation. In Kung Fu Panda, there is a scene where the villain is escaping from his captors. I noticed little subtle things that I have not heard before, stretching of bow and arrows, slight scratching of the tigers claws on the rocks etc. That was just one of many "wow" moments I had with this system. While it is not anything close to a true 5.1 or 7.1 set up I think it is the best you can do with an "in the box" small set up. I know it's a bit pricier than some of it's new competitors but, the sound is amazing and at it's price now it is well worth it! 10/10

I have been a Klpisch endorser for years. This 2.1 Channel system has a very well-balanced horn-technology which has a natural sound reproduction and the bass driver is excellent for an 8" down-firing unit. The price is extremely comfortable and the sound is even better. Thank you.

The system sounds much larger than it is. Very good quality sound. Right now, it's in for repairs after about 18 months. DVD kept freezing after about an hour of playing. It's a little slow in responding to the remote commands also. Repairs are hard to get, because almost no one works on these units. Had to send it back to mfg. repair shop. Flat repair cost of $175 regardless of problem, plus about $25 shipping each way ($225 total). So, that's about 1/3 of the original cost ($699). I like the unit, but I think I would try a different brand next time. Onyko has received very good ratings.

I purchased the previous version for a second home and was so happy with it I got this one for my main home. The ease of connection and the value for the money is great.

Basically writing this review to give back. Every now and then I come across a review of someone like myself, who tries to give fair feedback on a product and it makes me think twice about what risks I might be taking.I purchased the CS-700 on Amazon because it was 75% of the price that I could get it for from Best Buy. While you might think not getting an extended warranty wouldn't be a big deal, go ahead and read other reviews. I immediately experienced the buzzy-noisy-feedback (loud noise) that occurs when you leave the system plugged in and turned on (not an unnatural act for a TiVo owner whose device is supposed to be always-on). Beyond that annoyance, let me tell you that the RoomGroove is B.S. -- it works 50% of the time, and by that I mean that regardless of how close you put the other speakers, within any ten minute timeframe, they will only receive and convey sound half of the time. Beyond this, I have literally had to pay for three repairs in the past 2.5 years. It just stops working after awhile, and I've had it in the repair shop three separate times. The times it did work, it was awesome... loved the wireless base and the sound overall. However, as it has broken down yet again, rather than continuing to pour good money after bad, I've decided to purchase something through Best Buy that I can get an extended warranty on and not mess around with this crap anymore. All reviews are anecdotes and data is not the plural of anecdote. Having said this, the fact that my Klipsch has broken down soooo many times in such a short period indicates poor quality and makes me question the long-term product support capabilities of the company (I didn't even mention the problems I've had with the two separate RoomGroove speakers). Perhaps I am an outlier, but I've made my decision to not buy Klipsch ever again. Hopefully this review --- along with whatever other information you gather --- let's you get a full picture of the risks and benefits of going with this company.I'd be happy to communicate with anyone who wants more information about my experience.

I bought this set as an open box return from another website, so I got a very good price. Up until now, I had only used the speakers built into the TV, so I don't have any reference to compare to other systems. This is a good looking system. It was very simple to set up, including the wire hook-ups from the cable box and to the TV.The difference in sound from the TV to the system is night and day. I showed my wife the difference by muting one and turning on the other back and forth, and it was just amazing. Two small complaints. The DVD player is slow to respond to remotes. Changing the inputs has about a 4 second lag, and there is no way I have found to skip or delete any of the 6 input options( Aux 1, Aux 2, AM, FM, Disc, TV). That leads to the 2nd complaint, not being able to program an activity through my universal remote to watch a DVD. When I try to set up "Play DVD", the remote turns on the system and TV on, but can't seem to get the right input selection, likely due to the lag. The Logitec 880 remote does work control all the functions of the unit, it is just the activity that I can't set up. I have emailed Klipsch to see if there is a firmware upgrade that may address this lag. ** Update- Both of these complaints were due to user error. If I had looked at the remote provided with the unit a little closer, I would have seen that there are individual buttons that can be pressed for each input. Problem solved, my Logitech universal remote now works perfectly with the system.Overall, I am very happy with the system. If you are considering a comparably priced Bose or Denon system, I would think that this system is as good or better.

My husband and I purchased this system several months ago. We are using it on the main television in our family room with our new flat screen set.The sound is amazing. Crisp and clear with nice clarity. It sounds like your at the movies but without the loud booming thud-effect!We had a Bose system that was very similar to this one and after only two years with the Bose began to have trouble with one of the speakers! For the money and quality, this set is worth the purchase!

I've owned both the Klipsch CS700 (still own) and the Bose 3.2.1 Basically they are both awesome for what they are (a 3 speaker set up) But they each are better than the other in one way. The Bose is a little bit cleaner sounding but the Klipsch has much more bass. I like to feel the explosions in movies so I chose the Klipsch over the Bose. The Klipsch's sub-woofer is also wireless (doesn't need to be plugged into the system, only to a power outlet) which is very nice when deciding where to put it. The only reason I gave it 4 stars not 5, is that the Bose still has a slightly cleaner sound. But if I was reviewing the Bose I would give it 4 stars because of the lack of bass.

I got this as I didnt feel like running wires for the rear speakers so decided on a 2.1setup. i was researching bose 321 system when in few searches people were praising this system. and amazon had a great sale for 199.99 so i jumped on it. setup was a breeze and sound was excellent. my father in law told me to purchase one for him upon hearing it as he shared the same problem with not wanting to run wires for rear speaker.Great little system. the wireless sub is very nice you can put it anywhere in room and out of site. i actually went back to buy a 3rd system for my basement but the price jumped back up so i passed.
