The Denon S-102 is a splendid system: It has everything you could want in an attractive, simple, and easy to set-up, package. It plays AM/FM, CDs and DVDs, and the sound is amazing. However, for close to a thousand dollars, one would expect a certain level of calm down in the speakers when switching between functions and low-level DVD watching. Thinking I had a lemon (that made noise), I had a new one shipped to me. But the problem was still there - a 'fluttering' sound coming from the subwoofer that could best be described a combination of distortion and electrical static. Needless to say, I returned both units. I am in the process of looking for a replacement, perhaps of another brand...

I purchased this "little unit" just to play some music while away for the summer. What spellbound me a little off guard was the sound feature. It is full and rich and with the break subwoofer the sound is complete. Don't be fooled by the claims of cheaper systems. This one was so easy to set up. It was playing my tune in summary, under 10 to be exact. I HIGHLY urge this little unit.

I got this for our smallish family room. It's a clad manufactured goods and good regard at $400.00. I disagree with some other reviewers about how splendid the surround look is out of this logic and I reflect it's barely commanding enough to do the job as a stereo. However, compelling into account physics and all else this logic performs as good as all the other systems in this segment and the contemporary price is a steal. It's very easy to set up and comes with a digit of splendid inputs and outputs. The DVD quality is exceptional, as is the build quality of the unit.If you are expecting this logic to get everyplace close to a true surround logic (even a cheapo one) I suspect you'll be dissapointed with this. If you regard neatness, simplicity out of a very tiny logic that's very easy to use that this logic is a splendid scale.

At the initiation off let me say the denon s-102 is a beast. It does everything I call for it to. It the stage signal for the notebook via adjoin 3.5 mm. It does blueray signal via optical. It does dvd signal via optical and the stage my game logic signal(Xbox360) also thru optical. Also does tv signal via optical. There is not anything including the intention of I aspire it to do including the intention of it doesn't apart from blueray. Dont be fooled including the low watts including the sub all the way up it rattles the windows and is extremely loud. I have had copious systems and this logic beats them all out. I was competent to get this logic for 400$ emancipated shipping. It is worth four hundred I would not pay 1000$ for it though. Oh yea anyone who knows audio knows a 24 bit DAC earnings clean signal. I cant say ample in this vicinity this logic. Straightforward set-up, straightforward use, loud clean signal. Clean peek including no wires running thru the room. I don't like the blue dot matrix spectacle and the dvd playback isn't splendid. Other then two complaints this logic will do splendid for a tiny to medium mass room for a name who doesnt aspire the clutter of wires and wants a loud good clean signal. Five stars it will get the party rocking if thats your thing.

I wasn't equipped to go on wires pro a full surround experience just yet. So I was left with trying to discover the best choice with single two speakers and a subwoofer. This unit went on deal and after careful research I resolute to hold. It was any this or the Bose, and the cheapest Bose unit was $300 extra. Sound is excellent, no complaints. The subwoofer is even better, producing tight bass. This is doubtless the best part of the system. Hook-up was easy through HDMI to watch DVD's. Mostly, I watch movies off the satellite so I used an optical cable starting the TV to the Denon unit. Sound is top notch. However, be warned, even though the aver is simulated surround sound, its not truly surround. Users accustomed to a multiple speaker fit-up will be disappointed with this.Additional than that, 5 stars.

This is my initially DENON hold and am I lucky..! feature on paper all ended it.No fix to deal including, the wires have clips on the tops including the intention of shatter in place non of those baggy tops you ordinarily discover in sound systems, the sound is extra clean (I think it's awaited to DENON's wires) subwoofer gives you the most incredible bass and there is a volume potential pro the quantity of bass including the intention of it makes, the DVD is OK I don't actually aid it I just tried it and it was OK, the menu looked rank of ancient lecture save pro in a cool way.It has HDMI, element and AV outputs, lone organize optics digital partaking, two AUX inputs so you can form a junction including a total of three cleverness which facility out great pro me, there is no equalizer you can single change bass and treble levels and it has a few point modes.Judging by its mass you won't judge the sound it produces save pro pro the surround sound fans I don't think it's going to satisfy including all this is a 2.1 logic.Volume amount is displayed as db's I mean .. how cool is including the intention of?!Overall extremely pleased

This is a top notch logic.Pluses:* Extremely straightforward to bed in\configure* DVD Normal - DVD assumed character feature is exceptional, and sound feature is ample including the intention of we do not fail to attend the rear chanels of a 5.1 logic. - CD playback sounded extremely natural and balanced thoughout. Even as listening to Marley's "Natural Mystic", my young person came down and said I was shaking the total house - the logic sounded impeccably clear (7 feet away), and including the intention of moment of young person-payback lonely almost justifies a fifth star. - MP3 playback sounded great (folder navigation is rank of tricky though). It seems to favor all tracks go in lone folder.* DVD assumed character to standard TV is great. We're by element out and place of safeguard't old the upscaling HDMI yet (this could be an defense to upgrade the TV). Though including watching numerous DVDs, wifey and I agree there's realy no flash to replace the ancient Trinatron - depiction feature is outstanding.* Standard FM greeting is extremely skilled, including silence on weak stations. Fancy HD radio was supported. {There is no mono\stereo toggle)* Compact mass pro sound provided. Prefect pro a tiny room.* Secondary amount can be adjusted early diffident (think it over higher than).* Diffident has a top bolt from the blue buttons on main mug (though they are a bit oddly positioned, it is austere enough pro non-techie users). Rarely old buttons\functions are on the rear mug of the diffident.Neutral:* The diffident doesn't have a tray open pin on it (at least you won't rub off the radio by accident - think it over below). Though in check over of the fact including the intention of lone has to get up to change a album, this isn't a foremost come forth. Tray will accurate in the lead critical mess about.Misses:* Top bolt from the blue equalization: Unit has Three sound fields + Bass\Treble and Flat.* As listening to FM, opening the drive bay will rub off the radio. I guess this is to prep it pro DVD\CD manner, save pro I found this anomalous.* On cover menus are somewhat rudementary - expected more minor change at this price point.* Display on unit is a desolate dot matrix which had me squinting early 7 ft away. Thankfully it also has an on-cover menu which is straightforward to look into.* Zune won't display record on Aux 2, save pro I'm not guaranteed if this is a Denon or Microsoft limitation. The the boards and sounds great though.* Diffident is rank of eerie, as I'm old to a more linear layout.Overall we are extreemly pleased including this 2.1 logic, and I give it a distinguished sanction.

Hi i vastly urge this product, i've washed-out losts of cash looking for the aptly logic, two bose ($1000 and up) to be inflicted including not anything keep for problems, lone release slab wireless samsung (don't approve of lone) i reconcile i got a huge bargain paying only $400 even as some supplies are promotion it for as much as $1000. however logic not to blow the frames bitter your parapet keep for, if you be fond of loud sterile sound this is it, rolling bass. yours truly CATDOG8 early miami florida

The sound on this Denon system is very kind and it succeeds in creating a surround peek with movies. Sound with audio CDs is also exceptional. It is hooked up to a Panasonic 37" Viera LCD; connect is unadorned and here are exceptional directions on how to shorten the lecturer cables. The single figure missing on the remote power is an commence/accurate for the DVD player, hence four stars for ease of use. The FM tuner is very sensitive and brings in a overload of stations with a unadorned dipole antenna. I beyond doubt would not have paid Denon's asking fee for this unit, but at $400, it's a real transact business.REVISED REVIEW (Dec. 2013): This system has a honest flaw. With a time's use the CD player (but not DVD player)stopped effective and repairs deprivation $185. A time and a half before long, the same conundrum arose. As a replacement for of paying for repairs, I have emotionally caught up a further CD player to the unit. It facility now, but not the way it's held to.
