Ok I'm changing the review to be fair. I accepted the firmware bring up to date and it stayed at Open WA for a long time. I unplugged the machine for a day, plugged it in trade in and it was subdue stuck at Open WA. Then I did some more support checking and found I should just keep coming up. I left it on and after looking at it 30 minutes later it had turned itself off. Then in the lead turning in trade on it was working. Need to put this warning on the firmware bring up to date page.Viera link has a lag time between turning on the player and the Panasonic TV. How long, uh, 20 seconds or more. But it does work.So I'm keeping at 4 stars. The firmware bring up to date looked like it bricked the thing, but it just took a long time. (I don't want to bash Java, but I think it uses some kind of Java layer).

I really was looking to get a small HTIB system for my apartment and this fit the bill but oh how wrong i was!I was looking to replace my stand-alone LG BD550 blu-ray player including this element but i really liked the LG interface much better than the Viera-cast on Panasonic. Especially for Netflix, i could frankly browse and select movies through LG's Netflix interface but including Panasonic all you can do is queue from laptop and watch.The real downside including this element though is the sound feature. I tried to tweak the settings in every way possible but it just doesnt sound good. Terrible for music and not much good for movies either.It also did not read the music files on my USB drive which was a further major drawback since i find it extremely comfortable to hear music via a USB drive and which my much older Philips system was perfectly competent of.I had to return the element.

System works great with my Panasonic 50 GT Plasma.........Keep for, Ive been trying for several weeks to find the wireless SH-FX71 for the rear speakers. No one has them in stock (including Panasonic) and no one knows when they might be available (including Panasonic). Wish i had known about the famine before in purchased the system.The fee was to good ($209.95)

Ordered this to go with the 50" gt25 panasonic plasma tv. You only need the one HDMI cable (make sure it is the latest ver that supports ethernet) to the set to receive audio from other sources on the TV. Make sure you enable ARC. I wish this unit had hdmi inputs but the TV had more then we looked-for and the sound is very good.
