Sony HTD-DW995 Full HD 1080p Component Home Theater System Recent Reviews

I just installed this logic in my household and I am extremely happy with it. The reciever is awesome with plenty of inputs and full HDMI. The subwoofer sounds good in my standard size room lacking being overwhelming (I only be inflicted with it adjusted to 50%). The speakers are compact and apparent. It sounds great for TV and movies, but as listening to music, the speakers look small. My only complaint is with the intention of the center channel speaker could use a modest extra mid-array sound, but I can permanently exchange it shortly with the money I saved with this manufactured goods. I would urge it to anyone with a small to standard size room.

I be inflicted including been shopping almost for a small HTIB for my opportunity, which is quite small, and that would compliment my 46" lcd tv water supply. My criteria were: small speakers, hdmi video switching at the bottom of up to 1080p, audio processing through the hdmi, at least 5.1 and reasonable price. After doing some research I was all set to buy the $800 Onkyo HTS894, but then I found this Sony. Info was a little hard to find as it just came out just and nobody had reviewed it yet. My main concern was that it wouldn't process the audio through the hdmi in view of the fact that all other HTIB's in the same price array didn't do it. Once I finally confirmed it would process audio through hdmi I decided that for $400 it was worth a try. Man am I a happy camper. This thing kicks major behind!!! Not single does it meet all my requirements at the low price of $400, but it sounds great. I be inflicted including everything hooked up to it, HD digital dvr, dvd player and Xbox 360, they all sound great, I don't know how I lived without surround sound for so long. HTIB systems are not as skilled as if you buy all the components separately, but if you're looking for big bang for the buck, but subdue want a lot of features then I suggest taking a chance on this Sony. I'm really glad I did.

Like the before poster, I sought after an HTiB to which I could attach my cable box (which has an HDMI connection) and a PS3 (which also has a HDMI connection and also serves as a Blu-Ray/DVD player). The set-up was pretty easy. It comes with a microphone you place everywhere you plan on meeting and the receiver analyzes the lecturer volumes and suggests how to best place each lecturer. Sort of gimmicky but cool at the same time. I took some fiddling to get the receiver to administer/productivity audio from the second HDMI input. I altered a setting from AMP to AMP+TV back to AMP and it ongoing effective at that point. I don't know I'm the only one who will have the conundrum but I soothe probable HDMI to be more Plug and Play. Other doubt, even if not a honest one, is that the number amount desires to be up positively high for normal listening. Eg. number goes 0-70 and 45 is normal listening and 65 will have your neighbors banging on your door. Just seems like normal listening must be in the 30's range. The signal feature is very good, and the compulsory audio indicate dispensation (if the signal is void in more than 1 plan it chooses the best) works well.

I purchased this after strict assess for one main reason - the HDMI hookups. I had looked at the BOSE and other Sony systems with the intention of bring about well with DVD but don't do no matter what thing else. I'm not a techno-bore....I can just in this area keep up with Pro Logic vs. DTS vs. Dolby Digital.....I've had it up and working for 3-4 months now using Rocketfish wireless rear speakers and connected to a Sony XBR TV, PS3, Comcast box, DVD player & Roku soundbridge media streamer (I tenderness my toys). There are approximately good points:- it does produce you extra powerful sound. Hostile to the XBR's built in sound (which is no droop I might add), you REALLY see the variation in bass, number and surround preview.- the hookups are excellent........many, many options.- It's modest looks wise.- there are many, many, menu options to mess about with. What I don't like so greatly:- On a extremely few occassions I started to see a affront lag in the sound as it was ran owing to this (as different to the TV) so with the intention of the lip synching was slightly out. Mucking in this area with TV settings seems to be inflicted with cured with the intention of.- I couldn't (and subdue can't) get the car-calibration to bring about, keeps erroring out for a variety of reasons.- I should admit to being underwhelmed by the sound. Even on Blu Ray discs it doesn't quite be inflicted with the surround sound "wow" with the intention of persons demos in the store be inflicted with. It's loud sufficient, but lacking, even on Blu Ray.- with the different sources you discover yourself wanting/needing to change the bass/treble settings. Lack of a dedicated button on the adjoin means you need to wade owing to menus....bit of a pain.- as others be inflicted with commented, you actually need to crank up the number to 80% or above to make it good listening. It may preview overly negative, but the negatives are all moderately insignificant. To me, it boils down to fee. For the fee this is a good logic and better than the crap not extra than it. Will it produce you the "wow" thing the +$1,000 systems do.........no.

I bought this unit about 5 years ago now. It is still working so here was definitly regard to this unit. At the pricing I am seeing on this now I do not reflect anyone would be disapointed. The surround signal speakers that come with the unit are not high end so if you are looking for splendid signal at very high volume you will not get it. Here is some be unstable when turning the unit on which is about 4 seconds. One business to keep in mind you cannot use the constituent out when you are by HDMI partaking into the unit which may be the case with most surround signal. All in all with the price on amazon you are not vacant to be in tears with this hold.

This unit does soubriquet digital audio signals via HDMI. This means you don't be inflicted with to be inflicted with a seperate optical or coax cable pro audio. Keep pro you won't get on to whatever thing extra than the DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 that you would naturally get on to through the optical partaking. If you be inflicted with a HD DVD player and are in the family way this system to take financial help of Dolby Digital Clear or Dolby TrueHD audio, forget it. The HD DVD players decode these extra audio formats and sends them made known as multi-channel linear PCM. Keep pro this Sony receiver can only soubriquet 2 channel linear PCM. Not the 5.1 channels you call for pro surround signal. So there's no technical financial help over the optical or coax relations that be inflicted with been almost pro years. You may not trouble and you may discover this to be a splendid system at a splendid price. Keep pro I wanted to produce reasons pro this top since Sony's citations does not spell it made known.

I am not up on electronic equipment, but I know how to make comparisons and the Sony system seems to offer much more bang for the buck. Systems in this array did not tend to offer the 1080p resolution as does the Sony. There is Dloby digital, HDMI capability and plenty of input/output connections to do just about any hookup. The sound is great. I tested my DVD player through the receiver by watching the "Bourne Supremacy" DVD and believe me, the system will rattle the walls. The single thing that is kind of annoying, is the sub-woofer is powered seperatly, so you be inflicted including to turn it on or off when you use the system. The strangest thing is the volume control. On a scale of 0-65, you be inflicted including to get it up into the 45-50 array to hear it, but as I said, it has plenty of power to bring down the walls. I just don't understand why all the dead air below 40.I highly reccomend this system. For the price you will definetly get your money's worth.

I approved this logic for about $270, which I planning was a sweet good deal at the time. I in fact experienced person a logic that was similiar to this model at Fry's and it sounded good. After background it up, I promptly realized that permanent frankly in front of it at the store with all the speakers grouped collectively, and background it up at home with all the speakers spaced out did not yield near the same consequences. The lack of bass is what actually disappointed me. In the store it thumped sweet good, but in a large game room, the bass was barely noticeable. I re-positioned the subwoofer numerous times tiresome to find the "sweet spot" but to no avail. I cranked it all the way up and still couldn't feel the noise. Don't get me wrong, the sound was sweet crisp and clear, but if you're surveillance a movie and you want to feel the crash of an explosion....not dredge up about. I think the logic would go best in a less important, enclosed room, but in a better open space, I wouldn't count on it. I wound up repackaging it and shipped it back to Amazon a link of days later.

Positives:- Clarity: This system has a sterile, apparent sound, with great spatial characteristics. There is virtually no mock or distortion at normal, or privileged than-normal levels.- Automobile Complex: While a seemingly gimmicky conspire, the automobile-complex conspire is great pro being compensated the unit made known of the amount and in succession promptly. Linking this, and the "automobile AFD" conspire, the unit will nature-chat all speaker levels and select the optimal surround background pro the notes life viewed/heard.- Insistence: I be fond of the tiny adjoin/crucial top/rear speaker design, which makes this system ultimate pro implementation in tiny or confined areas.- Configuration and Fine-tuning: While loads of of the non-payment settings are quite skilled, virtually each parameter is configurable to the listener's taste. I commonly use a amalgamation of the non-payment profiles, with a nominal tweak/enhancement to the bass rejoinder.Negatives:- System Potential: Genuine, unremitting (RMS) productivity is in this vicinity half of the advertised summit potential. This is not a true 900 watt system. Though, additional systems are also rated this way (unfortunately), and even at half potential, the system is sufficient.- System Volume: This system is moderately calm down as surround systems go. Though, this is straightforwardly paid pro by approaching the volume potential a piece. Some reviewers be inflicted with complained that they call for to go on the system at 50 or 60 (made known of a total of 70) to come across their volume expectations. I concur with the call for to go on at in this vicinity 50 or 60, save pro am very pleased with the consequences at this background, and commonly be inflicted with no call for pro 70.- Diffident Potential: A kind unit, save pro straightforwardly misunderstood/misconfigured. Critical fastidious buttons, e.g. "trade show", does not just select the trade show manner, save pro cycles through the various trade show settings. Additional family tree members, not traditional with the diffident, can inadvertently reset volume and surround parameters to non-optimal settings -- greatly to the chagrin of the fundamental system consumer, machinist, and setter-upper.- Cabling: The cabling is somewhat unpleasant, save pro sufficient, primarily agreed the detail that the system does not in detail do 900 watts worth of work.By and large:This system is more akin to a premium set of PC speakers than a top-ridge A/V surround system. If you're looking to break glass or tick-sour the neighbors, this may not be the system pro you. Though, if you're looking pro a great sounding median-amount system, the sound quality, complex options, insistence, and configuration options get on to it a very skilled approve of (I compensated in this vicinity $300); and there's plenty of sizzle and crash pro a very enjoyable viewing/listening encounter. This system is primarily apt in tiny to standard viewing environments, or where space (speaker position) is at a premium, or where the listener wishes a more not easily seen surround complex. I be inflicted with owned and used this system pro a month currently, and am very pleased with this hold.

Really great HTIB, nothing else is priced near this Sony for its features. IT has 1080p HDMI pass through, AND the stage the uncompressed 5.1 audio from Blue-Ray Disks. That means full 5.1 and 1080p through 1 single HDMI connection, no other HTIB in this price range can do 1080p, only 1080i.the Powered Secondary isn't too bad for its size. Overall a great unit for those with a PS3 and want HD video along with uncompressed 5.1 pcm audio.
